There’s a button in the lower left that says “PROGRAM”, when you hit that you are selecting which memory bank you want to use. If you hit PAD 1, then you switching to program 1, PAD 2 = program 2 and so on. To set a program and return to normal pad function, hit PROGRAM, then Pad 1, 2, 3 or 4, then hit the button in the lower left that says PAD – this will return you to regular pad function using the program (i.e. memory bank) you just selected.

Thank you i actually figured out all my presets and programming problems on friday night, my issue now that I am having is how to connect with Ableton and controll basic drum patterns or rolls, or if that is even an option. If ableton is not the program that I am looking for if anyone on here could suggest a basic midi program that I could access to use to help record basic drum beats on a track would be awesome.

you have to use the AKAI editor to make sure none of your note or cc # are the same, then map them to the different functions in ableton

I have a couple differenct presets available and made sure that not a single cc # is similar, I am just confused on how to map the actual pads to a drum rack to record beats if that makes sense?? I know you can use the grid (i think) and make beats with the musical notations and bars but how can I just jam on the pad with a preset drum rack????
