Well as you say there are many to chose from.
If you want the same quality as the Pioneer setup you had then it is not as many.

If you want to come of cheap there is the Numark Mixtrack Pro
(all other low budget is not a good choice from what I’ve heard)

The Mixtrack pro is plastic has not as good buttons/knobs, short pitch, no balanced output, no mic in……
It is a very popular begginers controller….

Then there is the Pro DJ controllers.
It is important to chose what software you want to use…..

Denon MC6000 (I have this and do think it is the best) – Any SW but ITCH (Traktor VDJ)
    Numark NS6 – ITCH
    NI S4 – Traktor
Pioneer there is one for Traktor and one ITCH controller
Pio also soon comes with a new one that looks to be cheaper but I do not know if it’s ITCH or Traktor….

If you are used to the CDJ from Pio you will properbly like the Pio controllers
but you come of cheaper with the Denon.

I suggest that you go to a store and try them for yourself!

I just posted about the Vestax controller, they are great, i think this would be a nice choice for you. I was selling my CDJs too, and choosed a Vestax Controller. Because they have the best jog wheels. Also i was trying the Pioneer Controller, but i don t like the Jog Wheels, they have the CDJ-400 Jog Wheels, which feel like cheap crap. Also i was impressed how bad they made the surface. For me, one of the worst pioneer products they ve ever released. i was disapointed, the videos was looking good on youtube, but when i saw them live at the musikmesse frankfurt, i was really disapointed. Till yet, i didn t see 1 DJ with a Pioneer controller lol.
I wouldn t recommend it. check the Vestax VCI-300 MK2:

or if you don t need that quality jog wheels,
i would recommend the Kontrol S4, which have really nice knobs and faders.

i would recomend any of the high end vestax controllers if youre worried about size(vci 100-300) if size is not an issue a ns6 or ns7 from numark would do good but they are pricey. i have a low end vestax typhoon and it worked well for me. and i just got a american audio vms4 and its a lovely controller for what i do.

I bought the NI S4, and I haven’t regretted it at all. It’s loads of fun, hard to put into words. It’s big but not too big. The only other one in the same league is the Numark NS7 hardware wise, but it doesn’t have the capabilities that the S4 does with the sample banks, looping, etc.

Glad you’re enjoying the S4, Jeremy. the NS6 is in the same league hardware wise too, as is the Denon DN-MC6000, the Vestax VCI-100 / VCI-300. Just for the record…
