Yep, load up the gear in the truck (alone), drive home (alone), get in my bed (semi-alone – the wife’s asleep), sleep in in the morning, unload the gear in storage.

    🙂

Having been at it for so long, I don’t worry or over-analyse what I did. I wait for the next gig to come and in the meantime do music discovery, track preparation and maintenance on my gear. Well, that is the usual plan, which unfortunately gets railroaded by daytime job and life in general sometimes.

I usually return home with my gear, unpack what I don’t want to leave in the car overnight, usually just the laptop bag and controller, and then do my best to unwind and get to sleep before the daylight comes…. I find that I’m wound up after a gig and I listen to some of my favorite tunes that weren’t appropriate for the gig, usually mellow stuff. I’ve been considering some sort of “gig-log” , not like what you see on youtube, but a personal journal of my thoughts after the gig, what worked, what didn’t, etc… just for future reference. Keep shining folks…..

After the lights come up I gossip with the staff a little (helps keep a finger on the local scene), pick up a tea at the local coffee shop, then head home with SirusXM-Chill playing (helps to wind down a little). When I get home I watch the news for a bit and normally fall asleep on the sofa. Wake up at some point and actually go to bed.

There used to be a late night meal in the routine as well, but I’ve worked dinner into most of my contracts now so I get well fed before my set starts, though I do miss going for late night Pho with all the other DJs to gossip about how our nights went.
