ParticipantOk, more info, i went in and got interviewed on radio today, Fantastic right? Yep! But now a few hours after you get home, the thrill of it and all, adrenalin worn off, and now ya home, no crowd, no admirers… was such a great gig.. extrpolate to a huge 1500+ ppl gig…..(which is similar)… AND NO, NO DRUGS OR VICES INVOLVED!!!! I’m strictly talking GIG HIGH!

ParticipantNo….I’m usually tired and want to sleep.
I wind myself down with symphony music in the car.
I did have one guy who went to the WMC one year, and on the last night he went to see Tiesto, then immediately caught a plane home and went to work. It was a bit of a shock to his system to go from massive Tiesto event to working in the office.

MemberI had this the other night. My first big gig out at prime time in a year.
I was super psyched, pretty stressed and full of adrenaline. Loads of people congratulated me on my set, one guy wouldnt stop congratulating me, started getting a bit wierd.After I’d finished though I felt totally underwhelmed with my performance and depressed, even though everyone said I tore it up! I dont understand the way the human brain works. Especially my own.
If anyones got any tips, I need to follow them, I want that feeling of elation.

ParticipantIn my single days my wind-down after a gig was to park my butt on the couch in front of the TV to watch a movie and just try to relax. Of course now with the wifey its a different story π

MemberHonestly, I Listen to some Christmas music on my drive home from most gigs. Its so different from everything I listen to and it honestly clears my mind and relaxes me a lot…

Hello Drew π
I Recognise and Understand this Feeling Very Well;
But My Formula for ‘After Gig Come Down’; is to Immediately Start Work On My Next Set;
I Find that as I am Already ‘Buzzing’ from the Gig; I am ‘Ready To Continue’; and ‘Always’ come up with Something Very Special; even if it is just One Amazing Transisition into Another;
It is The Element Of ‘Feeling Satisfied’ that Needs To Be Fulfilled;
And going to bed ‘Knowing’ that you have ‘Already Began The Preparation For Your Next Gig’ Really Helps Me πAugust 25, 2011 at 3:47 am #6311NewportDJ Drew
ParticipantStarted a new project. That lifted my mood no end! Great advice. I’ve always tended to listen to music while the feelings lingered. I really like the idea of feeding it instead of trying to impossibly wind down.

MemberWhen I started djing for weddings I use to get that afterwards high, nowadays not so much but it is still there. I just say embrace it, what comes up must come down, and reality is is just another state of mind
thats my Zen post for the the day lol π

I do that, tooβI call it “cleansing my ears.”
In the build-up to a gig, I’m so immersed in music that I find myself “hearing” beats (usually around 125bpm or so) all the timeβwhen walking, washing dishes, driving, showering. I’m living inside a nonstop mental soundtrack. After the gig, I need to give my ears and brain a break, so I listen to classical, jazz, or ambient. For the first day or two after a big gig I listen to talk radio and podcasts and no music at all.
