ok. gig done. AND THE VERDICT IS…………. corner loading is the shit!!! was told to turn down the bass because the windows across the bar (bout 150ft) were rattling hard! lol

    1. Place the sub exactly where you sit when you produce-listen to music
    2.Walk-crawl around the room
3.Spot the place where the bass sounds more powerful and natural to you
    4.Place the sub there
    5.profit

this is geared more for monitor listing in your studio or room. im talking about playing out in bars or small clubs/lounges. have your sub in the middle of the dance floor per se isnt an option. ive found through my experience that corner loading your subwoofer creates a big gain in out put

Obviously, I was off topic big time! Didnt see “gig” mentioned in the first post – I thought we were talking about a bedroom-home studio!

My 1600 Watt 18″ sub is usually set to -6dB sensitivity to keep some balance in the total sound. So I don’t bother with corner loading or such :-), the setup is slightly bass heavy as is. I have it sit either next to the DJ stand (left or right whichever works best in the venue I am in) or off to one side, with the top speaker sitting on top of it and the other top speaker on a speaker stand the same distance on the other side.

One thing done a lot in PA work is if you have multiple subs, is to turn one around (i.e. facing back). This cancels out a part of the bass being felt behind the subs and adds a bit to the bass being felt in front (sort of a trick to get some directionality in the low end). This only works if they are stacked on top or tight against each other though, not when one is in one corner of the room and the next one in the other corner.

    Just my two cents.

Im not sure if this has been said already, but some simple things about subs for placement at gigs:
Bass is omnidirectional, place subs together or they will start to cancel out, (not so sure about how correct I am with this one) Sub + Sub =/= Subs’ Db x2, it only adds a few more Db.
