Ooops, I’ve messed up the heading, someone please change it to: “Absolute Beginner: What type of music tends to be easiest to DJ?”. I’m sorry for that 😳

I guess the easiest genres would be dubstep or house, dubstep is nice and easy, hovering around 140bpm all the way. It’s not a huge difference though, and certain songs are harder to mix anyway.

That said, you should learn to mix all genres, it’s good practice.

Oldschool and newschool house works as well as dance. The one thing you want to keep in mind is harmonic mixing though.

Aside from what is easy or difficult to beatmatch….

Do yourself a favor and play/work/practice with music that you like. I am a beginner DJ also and I have found this to help a lot.

    Good luck.

Well, I didn’t tell I don’t like it, I’m just asking about easiest music to learn because I want to learn how to beatmatch by ear, and that’s it!

I say DJ the music you love, no matter what genre you play. Its always going to be hard first starting out because you have no previous experience, you will get better in time. Just keep at it, and you will get better.
