this is why anyone who produces music to be played on ipod’s/radio/TV will have 3 or 4 different types of speakers when producing and doing the final mixdown as these playback formats sound very different to a club system.
Hip Hop is the same, it’s most likely going to be played in a car or on a big home stereo so should have the final mixdown similar speakers, as any decently loud system will make the track sound much brighter than your flat studio monitors.
When your mastering though always keep in the back of your mind that less is more. If you don’t redline or compress your audio too much you will have a dynamic sounding track. And if you want a sound louder try turning down all the other noises and make some space to hear it in the mix before turning it up.
Also a decent spectrum analyser VST will save you a lot of time and help you to fill al the frequencies with the appropriate level of sound.
