Okay, lets take a crack at this.
1. Traktor will only load to a certain point in the track if:
a) You have the cue point set as a load cue point, and
b) You have “Initially cue to load marker” checked under Prefs > Loading
2. When you say CueUp, you mean the CUP button? You shouldnt have to switch into hotcue mode to get to your first cue point if you have 1. above sorted. The difference is Cue acts like the cue button on a CDJ – it plays the track from the set cue point when held. If you let go if the Cue button, it stops and resets back the the cue point you just played from.
What CUP does, is when pressed, it will play the track from the last cue point, but will continue to play when released. It basically works as a hotcue, but uses the floating cue point instead of a set cue (see next answer for more detail)
3. This little white triangle is the floating cue point. You can set this by moving a non-playing track to the point you want, then pressing CUE or CUP. Note that this cue is not saved, and is easily re-set.
Your problem sounds like you have Snap on. Go to the MAIN volume knob, and see the little “S” and “Q” buttons below it? Click on the “S” so it’s unlit, this should solve your problem.
