    Lol, I have the guide, but I am quite sure it is not with the mp3s, just the list. If you are or are aspiring to be a wedding dj, this is a must have document though.

    Thanks DJ Vintage.  I sure am and have already bought the main digital dj course.  I am considering the wedding Dj version.  But I need some music for an event on Sunday.  It is a wedding for an African-American couple, hence R&B, Funk, etc are top on the list.  I am using Itunes to buy most of them – but do you know of any other source to get good quality music apart from beatport, etc.  I joined an mp3 pool, but can’t locate many of the tracks I want there,,

    will appreciate any help.  rgds, Oy

    Hi Oy,

    If you do a search on here and on the main website for music pool, I am sure you will find many, many articles. It’s a popular subject and there has been some articles on the website dedicated specifically to building your collection.

    For a wedding you really need commercial music and Top40s (current and past) as well as some themes and all time favourites … anything you need for that can be bought on iTunes, it is simply the biggest source. Just buy single songs not albums unless it is one of those really good samplers of all time favourites that they are selling off… try to get originals though.

    The list attached to the wedding DJ course is ingenious….

    I think everything was said. I went to a wedding last month and the dj played all those Top 40 tracks – Bruno Mars – Treasure, Breakbot – Baby I’m Yours, Taio Cruz – Hangover, Robin Thicke – Blurred Lines … And the old classics from Kool & The Gang, Daft Punk, Michael Jackson, The Whispers…

    I’m in the process of starting a mobile entertainment company, and this wedding course with the song list and sample contracts is on my list of things to pick up…..   thanks for the input guys!

    Oyiwaa, in answer to your two main questions

    (1) An excellent alternative to iTunes is Traxsource, very often better for soulful, disco and funky music than other options. I have also found that sometimes iTunes doesn’t carry certain songs but Amazon’s MP3 store does. Juno is another alternative. Then there’s the Discogs market place for rare stuff in physical format.

    (2) As for lists of songs, I have found the one linked to below very useful. It’s based on actual requests to mobile DJs who report to the website. I discovered or re-discovered in this list songs that have proven popular in the mobile DJ scene in the US.

    Finally, I must add that Digital DJ Tips wedding DJ guide is a really worthy investment. The model contract, for example, is a terrific value, as are many other items in the package, not just the songs list.

    Sorry, I just realized that I didn’t include this other source for lists of songs useful for the DJ mobile business when doing weddings, birthdays, Bar\Bat Mitzvah, etc., etc.

    These lists proved very useful when I was starting out a little over a year ago. I’m from the “vintage” generation, to steal for a second DJ Vintage excellent nom de guerre, but I had forgotten a lot of the songs I had danced to in the 70s, 80s and 90s and the website above helped a lot, although it’s not perfect. None is.
