Cheers mate, that means a lot. I feel I brought the last track in a bit to soon tho. Apart from that am pretty happy with it. I have learnt a lot from this site. Have you done any mixes yet ? if so let me know. I mixed it on a Hercules instinct controller, that cost me about £60 lol. All tunes where bought on Beatport.

You ask a very specific question, so I will start there… keep it up. Your mix is more than good enough for your first. I am not terribly familiar with the mixing techniques of your genre, so I can’t comment too much on that, but it all flowed well, so it seemed a good first to me.

That said, there’s a point where it’s playing the Fresh Prince vocals over the TechHouse, and you hit it with some effects and it felt like it went on far too long.

Cheers deathy, yeah some tracks and mixes went on a bit to long. Like I said I wanted feed back, good and bad, so I could judge where am at. Thank you for your comments.

Also, I started on a DJ Control Instinct, I consider it a good very cheap first controller.

Yeah I agree, the software is great. Did I read somewhere that you came into Djing late in life ? Am 42 this year. Thats kinda the reason I was looking feed back on my 1st mix, to see if it was worth continuing.

Would love to get my hands on pioneers XDJ-RX, it looks the awesome. I have rekordbox on my laptop. Its great for getting playlist, even if you dont have any of pioneers gear

Yeah, I started at around the same age. I’ve been composing music for close to 30 years, though – but DJing has taught me a whole lot about how my music is played. Very illuminating.

The XDJ-RX looks cool, but… well, it doesn’t fit my workflow. If I ever have the money, I may still get one for giggles (eventually), but that would probably be AFTER I get Technics just to learn vinyl, in spite of it not meshing with my workflow at all. heh.

Great 1st mix. You need to ask yourself would this keep people dancing for one hour, if the bpm is constant, and tunes sound the same. Good song selection, go out and listen to other deejays, how they mix, sometimes they drop a song halfway through the first tune then, play melody section of another song in key, using different techniques. Great first mix.

Hey deathy, i would love to learn vinyl, i have a mate who still dj s on vinyl. He may be getting a call soon soon lol, to see if he would teach me. What kind of music do you compose. I have been in house and techno from the early 90s when i was a young pup going to the early raves, if only i had a time machine haha.

Hey Rodney, cheers for the feed back. Good point on weather it would keep people dancing for 1 hour, not sure if it would, only me maybe haha. Tho i wasnt really thinking along those lines when i mixed it, it was really just tunes that i liked and decided to give it a go. Ill keep that in mind for my next one tho. Again thanks for your feed back.

These days, I’m mostly composing Glitch Funk and other sub-styles of Glitch Hop, but traditionally, I’ve been all over the place – Trip Hop, Garage House (showing my age here), Trance, Club… a little bit of everything.

However, once I started focusing on a style, and DJing that style, I feel I started to actually start to get decent at it.

Hey Alexand, thanks for the comments. Yeah am kinda proud of it for my 1st proper attempt All the good feed back has giving me encouragement to continue, as soon as i get round to doing another one ill put it on here for all to listen to. I think ill do a nu disco mix as there is some great music in that genre. Then may be a mix for peak hour mix with loads of thumping beats like the Melbourne bounce style. Again thanks for the feed back.
