    Hi Bret,

If you want smaller (from 15″) then 13″ is pretty much the next step. And I’d support a move to a MacBook Pro. You might want to consider Retina though. For me personally (but I am older and already need glasses to see anything to begin with) a 15″ is the right size (because 17″ would be too big) and I could not hack it with a 13″.

You should be fine (as long as your eyes work as Vintage says) and you do have the text-size adjusters bottom left if you do find that you can’t see anything.

I personally use a 15″ Windows laptop but I have used a friend’s MBP 13″ Non-retina before and it is absolutely fine (i didn’t use VDJ on it though – just garageband and openoffice – but you should be fine. Indeed, Terry_42 (Him and Vintage are the Mods on here) uses a 13″ Macbook Air with a res not much higher than a 2012 macbook pro. You’ll be fine with it. Unless you’re blind..

    🙂

DJ Vintage….. Does the Retina make that much of a difference in your opinion?

Exactly my setup. I switched from a i5 Windows 7 machine to a 2012 MBP a few months ago and I can’t believe how amazing the difference is. I was a loooooong time Windows supporter and Mac hater and I was very wrong. I use VDJ8 also.

I think the “crispness” of the retina screen makes it feasible to use the higher resolution, meaning you can get the same information on a 13″ screen as you can on a 15″. Best would be to look at both while your favorite DJ software is running if you can make that happen.
