Check out the Novation Twitch Controller http://www.novationmusic.com/TWITCH/, Small enough to fit in a backpack, bus powered, sturdy build, and awesome Performance FX! No jogwheels though so if you scratch probably not the best solution, but if you play purely digital files and want to loop and remix your tracks live then it rocks! I’m waiting for mine to arrive (hopefully next week). Phil did a good video review of it a while ago on this site.

serato kinda sucks when it comes to being portable, maybe as a solution you could try mixxx or traktor etc that all you really need is an external soundcard and you’re ready to go, ive seen many people dj with traktor and a small usb card using keyboard mapping

Twitch is small and light – you gotta be comfortable with no jogs though.

i have the vestax typhoon, which i really love, but its for Traktor software. BUT there are some bigger versions of the vestax controller, like the VCI-300 MK2. Its an Itch controller. I can recommend the vestax controller, they are quality made. I love the jog wheels, you can scratch with it very good, the best jog wheels on the controller market. Also the faders are great.
IF you want to check the VCI-300:

sorry I meant you either need a serato box which I suppose is the same as a laptop with soundcard, but if a place doesnt have turntables or cdj’s you need them also, with other programs you can get a small soundcard and just use your laptop keyboard or a mini controller (korg nanos etc). or for serato itch you need a dedicated controller for itch. but then after looking at the name its asking for a good itch controller so ill just stick the ns6 down here 🙂 if it had better fx control for traktor I would pick one up myself tomorow 🙂 but for itch its amazing!

Ah, I see what you mean. Yes, I’ve thought that before about ITCH too.
