ParticipantNow I have a real reason to hate David Guetta.
What annoys me more is I’m sure every celebrity-chasing idiot will pack clubs to hear Paris “play” (even if she trainwrecks or fakes it all) while many more talented DJs are still stuck in empty rooms.
I wonder at what point will we see Paris or Pauly D playing Ultra or Ibiza?

Well I don’t want to even start commenting on this because it will all have to get censored.September 8, 2011 at 10:38 pm #7061Emma Partnow
MemberI Absolutely Detest David Guetta anyway; and this ‘Story Of The Future Of The Music Business’ not only makes me Feel ‘More Comfortable’ about my Intuition Towards People; but Doesn’t Surprise Me In The Least;
The Premonition/Words in this ‘Announcement’ Will Happen – I Guarantee It
Paris Hilton Will be Amongst The Headliners at All Major Festivals (and this Makes Me Feel Distraught to be a DJ);
She Won’t be there because she is any Good; as Boy George was also Awful; but because she is a Rich Prostitiute;These ‘Scandals’ of Angello and now Guetta are Making A Joke Of Our Industry 🙁

ParticipantIt might be a good thing though. When people see Hilton playing, DJing might get moved into the “lame” column and many will quit.

MemberI disagree on Boy George.. His mixing could be hit and miss at the best of times, but the passion and choon selection was always 100% and sometimes, just sometimes, that can outweigh technically brilliant mixing skills but godawful tunes
Hilton? Set to ignore and carry on, i’m afraid..

I Don’t Understand ?I’ve seen this before. At the point pop celebrities suddenly are starting bands or becoming DJs, that’s when people see it as “lame”. So you’ll see less people go to clubs, perhaps even the glam/bottle service thing go into decline (I’m sure this economy is helping that decline more). Thus many of the weekend warrior DJs who were never serious will quit.
The music also goes into decline, as we’ll see the mainstream folk suddenly latch on to something else. Maybe it’ll be rap music, as opposed to this electro-house pop hybrid thing, or it’ll be rock music. Even David Guetta’s 15 minutes of fame will end. I’m surprised we haven’t seen a new punk movement grow in this bad time. Punk rock usually grows in economic bad times…hence why it blew up in the UK in the 70s, and the Grunge thing happened in the 90s.
Sometimes you need to watch something die in order for it to be reborn as something better. It’s all like a Phoenix, where the bird burns itself up, and then it reborn. With the mainstream/pop element removed, things get more underground. It’s great for the underground folks, terrible for those who play mainstream music.
