I think ITCH would be best for you, and theerefore the NS6 (or the VCI-300 Mk II). you won’t want to use CDs – rip em and forget em.

    Hey Phil,

Sort of coming to the same conclusion myself. Not a lot of DJ gear shops where I live so really limited to internet reviews, might hang on until BPM in October.

    Cheers,

Um, I think you’ve overlooked a rather obvious choice, especially since you’re coming from a vinyl background and considering the type of music you play: the Numark NS7 (or a pair of V7’s paired with your favourite mixer). The spinning platters give you a really nice ‘vinyl’ feel, and doing all of your favourite tricks should be a breeze after using it for a little bit. I’ve got a pair of V7’s myself, and wouldn’t trade them for anything.

Unless, of course, you’re looking to have 4 decks, in which case the NS6 is the way to go.

But you miss one of the massive benefits of digital with the NS7, portability.

    Yeah, the NS7 is a beast. 18kg and c. £1300. NS6 is 6kg and c. £800.

    I have a tip too:
If you want the best from all the worlds. Vinyl feel with spinning platter, CD ability, USB ability and MIDI so you can use any SW prog. There is The Denon S3700s. You can use them with any SW but only the spinning platter with DVS timecode.
I have a pair and it feels just like vinyl but the vinyl is 9″ instead of 12″. One of the absolute best persons in scratching here in Seden has tested the S3700 and he thinks that it is the first digital thing he tested that he would consider buying. But he is a turntabelist so he bought the SSL and uses his TTS 🙂

UK DMC Champion JFB rocks Hybrid Midi Mode on the S3700:

World DMC champ, DJ Switch on a 3700

If you want portability the Denon MC6000 is a great controller:

I can ad that I have both products myself and am very happy with them

    Cheers guys,

As sacrilegious as it may sound, I really like the look of that new Stanton SCS.4DJ controller. It may not have all the bells and whistles, but’s it’s a third of the price of NS6/laptop combo and comes in a neat portable package.

I’ll check them all out at bpm.

    KTF,

    Steveo.

From what I’ve seen and heard from polite sources this is a good pice of plastic.
It is stabile and everything works as supposed to but the gripe is that it feel a little plastic.
The price on the other hand is nice:-)
It is a very good thing to get rid of the laptop and still have all the advantages of digital mixing I think.
I wuld must likely buy one if I haven’t had my MacbookPro and Denon MC6000.
