    Just personal opinion:

If it’s a residency then you probably should come up with some kind of contract. If it was a guest night then I don’t think it’s really worth the effort (just make sure everything is clear up front).

    I agree with PilotMike.
Conversely though, if it’s a reputable club they would usually have contracts ready if they have interest in you for a residency. It may come as a simple employment contract or a full-fledged DJ specific deal.
Either way it shouldnt hurt to simply approach and ask questions. The club could be looking for serious DJs, (ie ones who would want a residency) but just dont have the time to hunt down/audition talent.
Even if they say no at least they’d bookmark you as a DJ with sincerity behind his business senses and may keep you on a short list.

    Having said that, I had a 13-year residency on a handshake…

this club has just had some wanna b dj’s ,freejays and people that have no business behind the booth, even one of the owners told me last week that all the people like my music and that they are glad im there as a dj, but at the end of the night they still payin less than what we had agreed, i want to keep it as professional as i can when asking for either a raise or a signed contract, here in this town its the only club of its kind, i would have to go out of town to get another club gig so thats why i want to do it right

Unfortunately; now that the Club Owner is paying you Less; I can’t see him/her going back to the Original Fee that was Arranged between yourselves 🙁
However; if it may be of any Assistance; I have found a Copyright Free ‘Template’ of a DJ Contract that ‘Could’ Help You in your Current Situation if you were prepared to enter into an Agreement with the Club Owner; as of course he could even begin to pay you Less than you are getting now at a later date 🙁

Obviously; if you were to use the following Contract Template; just Adjust anything to your Own and your Employers Specifications 🙂
