    I think he was a little ‘Upset’ by the Altercation as he was taking some time to get back into the ‘Groove’ afterwards;
    But; I Certainly think this is in ‘All Of Us’ when we are ‘Doing Our Thing’; Especially as he was in a Hip Hop Club being Paid to Play Hip Hop (I didn’t really Know Kid Capri – but I Like Him Now :));
    To Stop his Set and Draw Attention to the ‘Requester’ was Unusual; but by Offering to buy them Drinks I think he Eventually ‘Managed’ the Situation Well;
    When the ‘Boyfriend’ started saying ‘You Need More People’ I felt that he was trying to Convey that a ‘Change In Style’ could have ‘Brought In More Punters’; but then if you go and see Kid Capri; I don’t think he ‘Expects To Be Challenged’;
    A Cool Video my Friend 😎

    One word:
    Unprofessional!
    We as DJ’s get crazy, whack, lame requests all night, every night we play. Most of us (I would hope) just politely smile and keep doing our thing. But to stop the music and put someone on blast?! 😮
    It’s not like she touched his equipment or tried to yank on a cord.

    But since it’s Kid Capri I guess he can get away with such behavior.

    Here’s a handy site to see how to deal with requests and the people that request them!

    I got into this topic in an article I posted on my blog.

    The thing is I agree with Kid Capri. When you work yourself into a headliner position, you’re brought out to play music the masses know you for. People come out to see what you’re playing and what you’re into…not to tell you what they want to hear.

    I stand by what I said in the blog entry. There is a time and place, and that was NOT the time and place. Capri may have been a bit dramatic, but I imagine he probably gets one or two of those per night and thus is tired of it. I can’t blame him.

    People who go clubbing really need to stop thinking it’s all and only about them and they’re instead being a part of something bigger. It’s the same when you go to a rock concert. Would someone climb up on the stage at a Dave Matthews Band concert and ask Dave to play Freebird? Or sing Happy Birthday to their gal pal?

    I’m of the mind that when you see it’s a bigger name playing that night, accept that you can’t make requests. Don’t like it? Go find another spot with a local guy playing who has to take requests.

    I agree with Kid Capri.If she would of requested a reggae song, I’m sure his response would of been different.He was playing hip-hop, and she wanted him to switch up the genre completely, so I see exactly where he was coming from.Sometimes I want to do that as well and put people on blast, but at the end of the day, I want to keep my gigs.My name is not Kid Capri

    ‘Will you go up to Mary J Blide while she is on stage to sing a song, how about Dr. Dre and ask him to sing a song by Mary J?’. He was paid to entertain based on the Venue. I agree completely. He probably was badgered a couple of times that night, culminated with that blowup.

    I say it and say it again….Let me see ANYONE go on stage and ask Outkast to sing a song by Lenny Kravitz. THEY DON’t DO SINGING. Why ask an entertainer change the venue at which they were paid to do. Again, probably being badgered about playing something different from a couple of folks, culminated with this. if 10 out of 1500 people want to hear a certain genre’, put a request in, wait for it, and you BEST be on that floor dancing when it comes on…

    Yeah… I kind of agree on both ends… Since he is a headliner I’m sure the fact that he was playing was a pretty big deal and for them just to request something from the is kind of selfish on their part – like D-jam said it’s like asking a band to change what they are playing mid set – like he said why couldn’t they just sit down and enjoy the music like everyone else?

    I think maybe he went over the top but I think even he saw that and tried to smooth things over with the patrons. Obviously a ‘regular’ DJ wouldn’t be able to get away with this… I’m sure club owners would probably kick me out if I did this! 😀

    I think with club and rave DJing, there are certain “levels” you achieve that more or less decide how much of a say you have.

    When you’re a nobody and some bar or club is bringing you out to play music to the crowd, then you’re expected to take requests because you’re the one hired to please the people the owner or promoter brings you.

    However, when you achieve a level where YOU are the one bringing the crowd out, then you can dictate things. If 500 people show up to hear you play, and one girl is making a hissy-fit because you won’t change the music for her, anyone will agree the masses call the shots. So if the room wants hip-hop and the one girl wants reggae, then majority rules and she should accept it or leave and go to a reggae venue.

    I think too many people, especially girls, simply make requests out of a desire to “feel special”. They really don’t care about anything other than feeling like a big-shot because they can ask the DJ for things and he’ll do it.

    As a DJ, if you don’t like requests, then either stay out of most avenues where it’s required, be a bedroom DJ, or build up a following to the point that they’ll side with you before some trixie with a princess complex. It’s like gladiators…whoever has control of the crowd can dictate the rules.

    I stand by my Original Response to this Video; although I Accept Everyone has their Own Views;
    I Don’t Take Requests and that’s the End Of It as far as I am Concerned;
    However; the Reason I am ‘Quoting’ D-Jam is the fact that I noticed that the Male this woman was with who Requested ‘Reggae’ (I wonder if she Actually ‘Knew’ what Reggae Actually Is); jumped in and initially began Defending Her (as if she was ‘Correct’); but also ‘Attempted’ to Incite ‘Other Patrons’ Against Kid Capri;
    This I Feel is Totally Wrong; as if she is Unable to Stand Up For Herself; or Accepts the ‘Hulk Attitude’ of her Partner; then this is a Very Sad Affair for her; but also a Very Sad Affair for the ‘Genius In the Booth’ Whomever He or She may be; as an ‘Incident Similar to This’ but Involving 20 Males Confronting Me; Actually in My Booth; it is a Practice that I would like to see Stamped Out to be Truthful;
    And though it would be Easy to say ‘This is the World Of DJ’ing; Accept it or Get Out’; this would Actually be quite a Narrow Minded View in my Opinion; I See The World from the ‘Top Down’ Not from the ‘Bottom Up’;
    Carl Cox played ‘Tomorrowland’ in Belgium last weekend; and used Basically 5 Loops (and some ’80’s Soul House) throughout the Whole 2 Hour Set; but if You (meaning Anyone) Don’t Like It; Go Somehwere Else;

    kid capri is one of the biggest hip-hop djs in the world,so you know what your gonna get when you ho see him,HIP-HOP so why go up to him and ask him to play anything else? thats like going up to tiesto(hope i spelled it right)and ask him to play wu-tang! you dont go to an italian eatery and ask for lo mein, you dont go to mickey d’s and ask for a whopper, so why do that to kid capri. i think he was totally right to put her on blast
