Denon DN MC2000, 3000, and 6000.
Vetsax VCI-380 and 300.
And the Novation Twitch.
These are some very different controllers.
The VCI 380 and 300 are a match made in heaven for Serato DJ but not for Traktor. There are very good mappings for both for VDJ, but I dislike the Traktor feel of both of them.
The Twitch is a fun controller, but if you are just starting out and you are learning the basics, I would recommend a controller with jogwheels to learn traditional beatmatching techniques.
The Denon units are built like a tank and have everything you need and work well with Traktor. However their layout is a bit cramped (which you have to like) and also their jogwheels are OKish but far below many other controllers.
Also I would not discard other DJ software so easily.
Serato DJ, VDJ, Traktor and nowadays Mixvibes Cross are all perfectly fine solutions and I would recommend making up your mind about software first and try around a bit. As I have seen to many DJ students fail on their software choice, just because someone told them that this software is the only way to go….
If you really cannot decide, maybe get a cheap controller first like a Numark Mixtrack Pro or Pro II, which have a good resale value. The Mixtrack works well with any software. It comes with Serato Intro which gives you a tiny glimps of what Serato DJ can do and it works with Traktor and Cross, which both have test versions freely available. This controller will get you into your first year easily and then you can decide where to upgrade to.
