ParticipantA Chauvet Trident might look nice, anything along the lines of an American DJ Vertigo, lasers (galaxian, hypnotic, etc), and some fog will go a long way.

KeymasterKeep the colorstrip as your fixture lighting and add some flower effect.
I always recommend the ADJ Revo III or IV as they have an immense angle, so even with a single unit you can flow a big dancefloor and if you are not yet using DMX, the standalone modes of the Revo series are outstanding. If you have that added you will be a long way.
Next step would be to add 1-2 moving heads with RGB, like the ADJ InnoColorBeam series and a fog machine. After you have all that would be the earliest I would look into lasers. As lasers I feel are lights that you cannot run all the time. They should be a “Wow” effect and if you leave them on all night, you have nothing to forward your bangers with. I dislike people who use lasers to fill the dancefloor with light, that is what moonflowers (like the Revo) are for. I think laser usage should be low over a set. However when you are ready the galaxian 3d is a good choice.

Thanks for the reply.
I can just can’t stand all those annoying dots. I can’t stand dots. Dots are so annoying. Same goes with small little rectangles everywhere. I think it’s just kind of tacky and 70’s looking.
What are some of my other options? Please no dots everywhere. I don’t understand why there can’t be just some affordable, sub-$150.00 scanners with basic scanning capabilities and sound active features. There’s no reason for it!
I asked this question one time to some guy and he had some stupid reply like “moon-flower scanners are cheaper because everybody has moon-flower effects” oh really? As opposed to basic scanners with just straight beams of light? There are more people who own LED Par Cans and other wash lights than moon-flower lights.
There’s no reason scanners with basic light beams can’t be more affordable!!!!
What are my other options besides dots?

KeymasterWell there is the ADJ Vertigo that some people like. It has much more spread out beams and no dots and is multi colored and easy to use.
The next option would be much more expensive as it would get into moving heads and scanners. I agree that those look much better than moonflowers, but you need more than one and each one is at least double the price of a moonflower.
I have tested the InnoColorBeam 12 which is an entry level moving head and is really good (as it has RGB and white LEDs).The ADJ Fun Factor LED has still dots but they are bigger beam dots…
Then there are Gobo Projectors, where the ADJ Gobo Projector LED is one of the cheapest (also cheap replacable Gobos).
And the Gobo Motion LED.If that is still too much spotty dots, then there is no way around a real scanner like the ADJ InnoScan or InnoRoll which are entry level, but have a price still…

ModeratorADJ has some new, battery operated, LED moving heads out. More compact and lighter than regular ones, still pretty neat effect.
