MemberI have traktor 2 and you can customize it – you can have all four decks or 3 and 1 sample deck it really depends on how you want to set it up… I was an LE user and upgraded just because it was only $70 to do so and I got a lot more functionality.

ParticipantWhat controller are you using? Can decks C & D be controlled by the Kontrol X1?

MemberYes… they can be – I know that some DJTT forum members have some really interesting mappings for them. I don’t own an X-1 so I wouldnt know personally. I use a scs3 system,a launchpad and a midifighter – all midi programmable so I pretty much program them to my preferences.

ParticipantSo are decks C & D available in a pull down menu like Traktor Pro?
Looks like I’m going to have to learn how to map controllers. 😮

MemberYup, when you click on the drop down menu you have a choice of track deck, sample deck and live input. Mapping isn’t too bad and usually there’s a wealth of mappings to at least get you started.

I’m still sitting on the fence. I’m not sure if I want to give up four decks just for several sample decks.
I’ll probably eventually upgrade to 2.x but for now 1.x does everything I need it to.

ParticipantThat’s what I’m thinking. Although, I may purchase 2.0 soon, in case NI decides to raise the price for upgrading.

MemberI should receive a free Traktor LE 2 licence at some point for registering the copy of Traktor LE that came with my Mixtrack Pro. When that happens I’ll have a play around and see if it’s enough of an upgrade for me to bother. I only use 2 decks, don’t bother much with effects and just do basic old-school mixing so other than the coloured and zoomable waveforms I don’t see much in 2.x to make me want to fork out 60 quid for an upgrade.

ParticipantMy thing is that I don’t want to lose four decks. I’ve read various reviews that noted that the sample decks don’t have Key Lock. Major stumbling block for me.

MemberYou don’t have to use sample decks in T2, you can have them as 4 normal decks if you want.

ParticipantNice!
So I take it that in four deck mode, a second Kontrol X1 will control decks C & D them same as decks A & B?July 24, 2011 at 10:10 pm #4517Lew
MemberI don’t know. You’d probably be better off asking on the NI user forums.

Hello Lew 🙂
To Be Truthful; for what you are Comfortable using in the Traktor Version you have;
The Coloured Waveforms and Zoom In Facility (which is Really Poor); it Definitely Wouldn’t Be Worth £60 my FriendJuly 25, 2011 at 12:26 pm #1001197Howitzer

Its not quite plug and play, you’ll need to set the second X1 to control C & D in the preferences, but its dead easy.July 25, 2011 at 1:32 pm #4563Liambo
MemberI’m still using TSP1 and won’t be shifting for another 6 months i don’t think (at least) i enjoy the way TSP is.. The sample decks doesn’t really interest me because when i use samples its samples i already have created into shall we say anything from 30 seconds to 3 minute clips i load into the deck im not using. So usually i just use 2 decks mixing and if i want to throw samples in it goes in deck A or deck B.. I hardly use 3 decks.
The thing that bugs me about TSP2 is the BPM ready out, it fluctuates quite a lot. NOTE i don’t use the BPM read out as im what you call old school but it is nice to quickly glance at if your in a rush and its hopping about everywhere!
