ParticipantTaken from the Serato wesbite:
Key new features of Serato DJ 1.3.0

Serato DJ FX Expansion PacksSerato DJ 1.3.0 comes with two brand new FX Expansion Packs, containing new FX powered by iZotope. The Wolf Pack, available as a free download, and the Back Pack, which is available to purchase for USD19. Expansion Packs can be purchased / activated in-app within the Serato DJ ’Online’ window, or from the Serato Online Store. Each new FX Expansion Pack comes loaded with several base FX for use in Single FX Mode, plus, a large number of base FX variations for use in Multi FX Mode.
For the full list of FX available in the Wolf Pack and Back Pack, and to watch Logan from the Serato Product Team demo the new FX, please visit the FX Expansion Packs page.
Favourite FXNew to Serato DJ 1.3.0 is the Favorite FX feature, which can be found within the Serato DJ setup screen. Favorite FX allows you to customize the FX select drop down menus that appear in Serato DJ, showing the FX you choose as your favorites. Maintain your growing FX list, and easily Add / Remove FX to your favorites list to suit your own performance needs.
Slip Mode for all supported controllersWith Serato DJ 1.3.0 anyone using a supported Serato DJ controller will now be able to use Slip Mode. When Slip Mode is activated you can manipulate the audio as normal (e.g Scratching, Looping, triggering Cue Points etc) however, once you have finished, the playback position is returned to where it would be if you had not manipulated the audio. Slip Mode can also be MIDI mapped to a secondary MIDI controller if your hardware doesn’t have a dedicated Slip Mode button.
Support for Novation Twitch & Vestax VCI-300 + VFX1Novation Twitch and Vestax VCI-300 controllers are officially supported with a Free Upgrade to Serato DJ 1.3.0. The VFX1 FX add on controller is also officially supported with Serato DJ 1.3.0 and can be used with any supported Serato DJ controller. To learn how these controllers are mapped to Serato DJ, please visit the Serato DJ Support page.
Other Changes1.3.0 also comes with added performance optimization and stability fixes. Check the release notes for Serato DJ 1.3.0 for more information.

KeymasterThe Wolf FX pack is free for existing Serato DJ Users and I quite like the new FX. With MultiFX mode and these new F/X I actually think this is getting a step ahead of Traktor.
Combine that with the new sample mode, platter sync and slip mode and I actually think they have a real edge on Traktor other than the usual better beatgrid and scratch modes.
The only thing Traktor has left going for it are remix decks and I honestly do not use those…August 20, 2013 at 9:30 am #43280Ben Stone
ParticipantIs slip mode available on the Twitch? I have downloaded Serato DJ but I need to upgrade OS X before I can use it 8-(

ModeratorMore FX? I am starting to think that in many cases all these FX are a cover-up for flaws in skills 🙂

ParticipantMy understanding is that “slip mode” is available in all the Serato DJ controllers but its whether you have a button mapped on the controller or if you have to trigger it with the keyboard. I haven’t tried this with the Twitch yet so i dont know…

Participantso basically, since my vci300 lack the buttons assigned for the FX feature,
I’m stucked with the mouse ? *sad pandaAugust 21, 2013 at 2:35 am #43316DJ BRUAEL
ParticipantHey its something at least.
I have heard that SERATO is introducing fully mappable controllers in the future.
So your options right now are to:
1.) Trigger slip mode on your controller (if it has one)
2.) Map a slip mode button to a secondary controller (remember that Serato DJ allows for midi-mapping of a secondary controller)
3.) Trigger Slip mode on your keyboard
4.) Wait for Serato to introduce midi-mapping on its main controllers and map your primary controller to have a slip mode button.August 21, 2013 at 8:05 am #43328Terry_42
KeymasterYou can easily add some secondary pad controller (cheap Korg pag for 50 bucks) to your setup with the VCI-300 and map everything you need on that one… mapping it is really easy…

ParticipantI tried Serato DJ yesterday with my VCI-300 (kind of a disappointment). I think for now I will stick with Itch. Some of the fundamentals of Itch were lost in Serato DJ. In my opinion, they weren’t worth losing for midi mapping and some effects.
For one, in files mode (for that matter in any mode) the backward and forward feature on the controller mounted selector does not work – at all. Scroll doesn’t stay lit (I use the jogs quite a bit to navigate my music list), and when you select a new song, it doesn’t automatically change cue (a to b) – these were native from Itch 1.0. To not have those small things IMHO makes Serato DJ not as fun to work with. When DJing is no longer fun, it just becomes another job. Itch seems to handle the onboard sound card a bit better as well – better amplification.
I was planning on getting a midifighter – guess I’ll have to stick with my FX1.

Thank you for the review on Serato DJ with VCI-300,
Ish kind of a pain selecting your tunes with the jogs eh ? While you can easily selected tunes with the selector button on ITCH,
Eh, guess time to look for a new software solutions + controller , too bad since I’m really comfortable with the simple interface and ease of use of ITCHAugust 22, 2013 at 6:20 am #43373Terry_42
KeymasterHmm maybe it is some settings?
I have no problem at all with Serato on my Terminal Mix and the new views, switchable crates etc. I think hundreds of improvements over Itch (mind I know Itch not from the Terminal Mix, but from the VCI-380).
So I think it is a huge leap forward over Itch also in what you can do.August 23, 2013 at 3:19 am #43409DJ BRUAEL
ParticipantSo I finally used Serato DJ with the Twitch for the first time on Tuesday and I was really impressed!
Firtst of all the Wolfpack (FREE) and Backback ($19USD) effects packs are totally worth it. to me they feel more “professional” and the backpack effects in partcular seem almost “VST” to me ala to be used as a professional producer tool. Also the ability to have certain effects tagged as favoruites is a real classy touch to me, saves you from having to scroll through dozens of effects to find “filter”!
The new manual loop function included in the performance pads is also a nice touch, espeically handy if your tracks are not probably beat-gridded for whatever reason!
I also like the way they implemetned the new FX section into the Twitch, I don’t know how but they managed to implement 3 FX’s per channel into that tiny controller! They do include an overlay you can print off but I am thinking it may be better to get some black tape, label it with a white marker and paste it onto the controller itself!
I now want to use a secondary MIDI controller to map the following functions:
– slip mode
– sample player functions (play/pause, cue, sync and volume control per sample deck)
– serato video functions (would need something with a fader or knob for this)
– panel select (for switching between record, aux, fx, sp-6 and video tabs)I am thinking of using the Novation Launchpad, QuNeo or the Korg Nanopad2 for this. Although if I had an iPad I would use Serato Remote!
Lastly, I don’t know how they did this, but the audio output has improved, it sounds better as it did before on ITCH and I can pump up the trim knob more than halfway before it goes into the red! Before it used to redline at 10 o clock! This may be due to Serato DJ but also to the updated drivers I installed (ALWAYS check for new drivers/firmware for your controller, novation just came out with new drivers for the Twitch in April!).
I now feel like I have a professional product in my hands and am VERY excited for the future.

ParticipantDj Riziki, do you have the vci-300 mk1 or mk2? I know they made the mk2 to specifically address this issue.
