That’s a tall order, based on what you told us so far. As Terry said, routing it through your S4 should work.
If, for some reason, you do opt for an extra sound card, questions you need to answer first:
- DJ specific card? Typical candidates would be M-Audio, NI of course, Numark and even a golden oldie, the Maya 44 USB (which you can probably pick up pretty cheap second hand).
- How many inputs do you need? Do they need to be mic/line or just line inputs (the difference being mic pre-amps that you pay for even if you only use the line inputs in which case the pre-amps are bypassed)?
- How many outputs do you need?
- Do you have specific needs as far as connectors are concerned? Do you need balanced in/outputs, or does unbalanced RCA suffice?
- Do you want USB (and if so 2.0 or 3.0) or Firewire (in which case 400 or 800)?
- If you have a Windows laptop/computer, does the card you pick have proper drivers for your flavor of windows? Mac should be less of a problem, although I know you can’t say it will be NO problem.
- What form factor do you need? Can you handle a 19″ size or even prefer one (like when you have an FX rack too) or do you want as small as possible?
Those are just the major ones. There is another dozen or so smaller questions that come into play, but after you answered the above ones. I know this isn’t helping much, although it might cause you to forget the sound card and just route through the S4 which has a perfectly suitable sound card built in. In which case this DID help a bit :-).
