Let’s see the S2 is a Native Instruments controller right? The mapping should be 100%, just about the only controller that you shouldn’t have to worry about mapping with.

So I am guessing you are either not using the correct mapping (re-run the wizard) or there is another problem.

The master knob is analogue i.e. it only controls the volume of the soundcard.

Hmmm, no visible feedback on the Traktor master? Not what you’d expect

The knob on the S2 only controls the output of the soundcard. It does not control the software master

Well I noticed in the software itself there is a master volume knob. wouldnt mind using the master lvl knob to control that. I guess i need to get some 1/4 in out puts to go into my speakers. right now all i have is RCA so i have been using the booth output to learn with.

Yep, booth output is usually (well always if it is done right) independent of master volume.

Oh it is. It has a separate analog knob beside the RCA booth outputs. I’ll get some 1/4 in cables to see if the master knob does indeed control the main out, even though it doesn’t visually control it in Traktor itself.

The volume control on some controllers work independent, meaning it will raise the volume of the mechanism rather than the software.

I just had a look at an S2 and it seems there is a switch on the back that says booth/main. I am guessing that let’s you switch the RCA’s to either booth mode (controlling the volume with the knob next to it) or main (in which case they are controlled by the master volume. So I think all you’d need to do is set the switch to master, leaving your speakers connected to the RCA’s and see if you can now control the volume with the master volume knob. No need to go out and buy 1/4″ jacks (those will probably always be main).

Yep when I switch that to main, it does become controllable from the main level knob. So That works for me, Just seems odd that visually it doesnt control traktor volume knob inside the software.

Yeah. My iDJ Pro actually has the same thing. I can just about map everything on it, just not the master volume. Probably because everything else is BEFORE the signal comes out of the PC and back into the sound card and the master volume is BEHIND the sound card before the signal goes to the speakers.
