KeymasterNo. For 1.100 dollars you can get a DDJ-SX if you like the CDJ workflow, that can do A LOT more than this low end CDJ gear and still have 200 dollars to spend on music.

ModeratorI have worked with that setup. If you want to play CDs … it’s ok, not great, but ok. If you want to use MP3s stored on a USB stick or external harddisk, I think they totally suck. It is a disaster having one short line of text on the display and one rotary/push knob to locate tracks. Unless you do all your work with prepared playlists (you can prepare them on your PC with Rekordbox of course), finding and selecting tracks is dramatic (and painfully slow with big libraries). I can’t get used to this workflow.
I’d rather take a Numark iDJ Pro out (530 US$ or so?) for a night on the town than the 350 setup.
I think more people are starting to realise that they are not really special as controllers (as Terry says way better stuff available for way less money), they are average as cd players (jogwheels are nothing to rave about and very basic in features) and as mediaplayers the limitations in searching for a song are (in my opinion) to big to consider them seriously.
The mixer features a USB port, so you can record straight to a laptop or PC and four standard FX. Other than that, very plain.I had the power supply on the mixer break on me 15 minutes before I was supposed to start my first gig with this setup. Took 5 weeks to get it repaired and this was with new gear, straight from the box.
So, you may think they are worth every penny, but I would never even consider bidding on this stuff. And if I had a set, I’d probably be glad to get rid of it for 1.100 bucks.

Sorry folks for the mixup, but you can record to a USB stick, NOT on a laptop or PC.

Memberget a t1, a flight case, a pair of really nice speakers and you still have money to spend. and you have the perfect club practising setup.i don’t think you need the 350s for using them as a mobile dj.
there is also the sx which is far from the regular cdj style but it is a lot more capable.
however you didn’t mentioned you much you are buying them( you mentioned you are buying them second hand)April 22, 2013 at 6:36 pm #39495Robby Luca
ParticipantI didn’t end up getting them. I’m looking to get 2 CDJ 850s ($1200) and DJM 400 ($350). Is that too much for 850s? Couldn’t find anything cheaper. Cheapest was $1100 but the guy lived 3 hours away lol

ParticipantTo be fair, the 350s and the DJM 350 aren’t too bad. They serve a purpose. Hell, I even did a set on them at a club once. It takes a while to get adjusted too – Especially if you’ve been spoiled by having the luxury to use pro grade gear as the jog wheel response and pitch fader resolution isn’t that of a CDJ 2000 or a DDJ-SX

ParticipantI didn’t end up getting it. I got the DJM 400, slightly better than the 350. The only thing that the 350 is better at is being able to record using a USB which is pretty neat.
And for CDJs I got myself the 850s. Spent a couple of hundred bucks extra.

I will upgrade my DJM when I find a good deal. For now it will do. Thanks for the advice!

I agree with the moderator, the extra 200 could be used for audio, laptop stand, headphones, serato dj software, virtual dj, tracktor, or business cards.

ParticipantSo I hate the DJM-400 LOL I got the DJM-700 and now I’m trying to sell the DJM-400 for $350.
2 x CDJ-850s + DJM-700 + Sennheiser headphones = $1800 (a lot more than I wanted to spend)
Did I overspend, got my moneys worth, or pretty decent deal?

ModeratorI recently got 2 Denon SC2900s (reasonably cheap) with a Denon X1600 mixer. I’d call this a rather high end set and ended up paying about 3,500 dollar for it. This is new of course and not including the Sennheiser (and if you bought HD25-IIs, that can run up the tab quite a bit by itself). Obviously high end from Pioneer (which doesn’t really have all that many more features than what I have and I personally tend to think build quality is even a bit less than the Denons) would run you up upwards of 5,750 dollar. Just to show you that CDJ/DJM setups are not as “cheap” as controller solutions, even if you would take the laptop you need into consideration.
You have good quality stuff and it will definitely get you “loose” on CDJ workflow. Depending a little on the state they are in and the hours (and amount of people) the have on them, I’d say you are somewhere between money’s worth and decent deal.

it is a really nice setup perfect for home use. told you that the 700 was a better choice.if you have waited a bit for the 750 to start rolling out then you would found the 700 for less than 500$
