An analogue club mixer will require one stereo output per channel input. So, if you want to play 4 decks through the house mixer, then you would need an 8 channel sound card. Obviously with Traktor set to external mixer.

So definitely an Audio 8 or 10 then?

Also, does that make the mixer controls in Traktor useless? Because I was planning on using a midi controller as my mixer and basically the running the final master sound through the house mixer

If you plan on using a midi controller, why not simply buy one with a built in soundcard, wire that to the house mixer (single channel) and be done with it?

Joining in on this thread. Could I use an Audio 2 to route 2 channels from Traktor into 2 channels on a hardware mixer and mix externally?

@Alex: Yep, 4 stereo channels out and off you go.
@Ess: Yep, the Audio 2 has 2 stereo outputs and should feed two input channels on an external mixer

Mainly, the cost differential between products with / without. Paying for college is somewhat of a drain as you can imagine, so until I can start bringing in a regular (like 1-2 “I know to be here at this time on this day” gigs a week), I try to be as creative as possible with the best I can afford.

Also, I would prefer a standalone for its flexibility, and in case of “buy the gear with soundcard, don’t like how it works, so now have to get different gear and soundcard” as opposed to “find controller I like, if it has soundcard, then great, external can act as backup, if not, still good”

My hope is to buy a Z2 one day, as it basically checks every box for what I need in a mixer

Yeah, I think I have the best of both worlds right now. Both my SC2900s media players and my X1600 mixer have built in sound cards. Meaning I could actually use the matrix input on the Denon mixer and have up to 6 channels available … Not gonna use that, but it is a great backup that way.

Yeah, you don’t have to worry about getting sound out, that’s for sure lol
