KeymasterThe basic idea is nice, but it still is too abstract to stick with people or to get a good print on a T-Shirt.
Also colorblind and focus handicapped people cannot read it well as the contrast of the 2 blues is too low (if you care).
The first one (top one) is really bad in that way it makes me nervous looking at it, but without me going “aaahhh”.March 26, 2013 at 9:22 pm #38374Alex Wray
ParticipantOkay thanks. I mocked up one last night that looks a little bit closer to how i want it (its too tall in narrow in my opinion, but it’s getting there.) so does this one look slightly better?
. Oh, and could you be more specific about the “it makes me nervous” part? What exactly makes you nervous about it?March 27, 2013 at 3:38 am #38396Will Rimmer
ParticipantHey brother,
I recently had a graphic designer from the media/design school I go to (Fullsail) take a rough mockup I made, and give me a few different versions and also made changes I wanted for pretty cheap. Shoot her an email, she had my stuff back to me the next day. All for $60.

KeymasterIt is barely readable at first sight. I think you are “overdoing” it with the many lines.
Keep it simple and think where you want to use the logo.A logo should be good for:
– Shirts
– Buttons
– Stickers
– The Internet
– Business Cards
-……So you need to come up with something that will fit to all that things.
For example leave everything away from your logo except the deep blue T and R and it might work.March 27, 2013 at 10:23 am #38418Dj Emazing
ParticipantJust the blue t and r is fine you don’t need so many lines

ParticipantGood advice. I always liked the Microsoft Zune logo and wanted something similar to it. Also I thought the design looked kind of like a record crate, but that may just be me

ParticipantOh I see, that’s actually smart. But as us all being djs(or at least for me) we should all keep it safe.

ParticipantGreat concepts, I personally just think the T and R need to be more defined otherwise people may not notice as much as you would like.

ParticipantI like the ideas, I’m thinking about logos myself at the moment (see mine in my avatar).
Make sure it works in two-tone so it prints in black/white and also it’s readable from a distance (imagine you were playing a festival or something and your name gets a tiny slot on the poster, you’d want people to be able to read it!) Make multiple versions with different colours too, get a feel for what you like (but keep the colour count low, maybe just one).
Also, what software are you using? I would HIGHLY recommend Inkscape, which is free and produces all-important Vector graphics (as opposed to raster) – that way you can scale, flip, change colours etc… and still keep it super-crisp.April 2, 2013 at 12:28 pm #38669Alex Wray

ParticipantGuys, I posted yesterday in non-dj chat about LogoNerds.com.
For $27 you get unlimited revisions for a web logo
For $47 you get the same for web and business logo if you ever want to print anything.
