I would at at least 4 gigs of RAM under your requierments.

I use a mac, but have heard great things about ASUS. Maybe worth checking out!

A Mac for $500. Thanks man I needed a good laugh today.

I got my HP from Bestbuy. You need 4-8 gigs of ram and no less than 500 gig hard drive. Programs are fat these days. Also buy a WD USB 3.0 hard drive 1 terabyte. Yes that’s huge but it’s cheap. Store your music on the laptop and use the WD for WEEKLY backups. If you can’t afford it now then wait. Bestbuy has sales every week and back to school sales are coming.

Nobody cares what color your pc is. Cool DJs cover them w stickers anyway and you ARE cool right?
    Thought so.
And forget what your parents or anyone thinks. Chicks dig musicians, tattoos and Cool DJs. You ARE cool right??

@DJ Architekt, Yea, I’ve heared great things about Asus aswell. Also I wouldn’t be able to get either of those on newegg :(. Since I’m really planning on using the $200 gift card at Bestbuy :S. I was going to originally get this really nice HP Laptop for $500 at future shop but money is tight for me and that $200 boost at bestbuy really has me stuck with them.

@Chris, I was planning to get a 4GB of ram or higher for sure and I agree aswell with the hardrive size. I never really thought about the External harddrive for myself altought I’ve seen many DJ’s talk about having them. And ya, I know about them weekly sales 🙂 but back to school sales should take a long time to kick in. I was thinking about getting custom stickers with my logo on them and stuff 🙂

I think any of those laptops are fine. Just max out the ram.

I also suggest you read up online on tips and means to optimize Windows to be effective. If you can scrape up the money even, go to Microsoft and update your windows to a full clean version. Usually companies like HP will put in bloatware and other useless crap. Uninstall it or try to get a clean install of Windows.

I love my Thinkpads, but I hear a lot of good things about HP. The two Architekt posted look good as well.

Just be patient, know the limits of your laptop, and you’ll do fine. Half the problems people have came about because they honestly don’t know how to optimize Windows and they push their laptops way beyond what they can actually do…even Macbooks.
