    Hello Haroon :);
    Without reading the Article (which I Remember Well); Phil said it was Extremely Important to have an ‘Artist Page’ where people press ‘Like’; rather than a Personal Facebook Page to Promote ‘Yourself and Your Business’; as this looks More Professional and enables ‘Fans’ to keep up with Regular Events or Posts Directly Related to ‘You’; rather than trying to Scoll through Lots of Posts from Friends or Family Members; which Doesn’t Look Professional;
    If you type a ‘Big Name’ that you like into Google it is ‘Possible’ that they may have a ‘Facebook Fan Page’; and then you can take a look at ‘How’ they are Representing Themselves and their Business ๐Ÿ™‚

    Thanks Emma, very true indeed, but there are advantages and disadvantages to each method and which one you might go for will depend on what you wish to achieve really. That is why I thought to share that blog post, as it neatly clarifies the different ways and gives a good summary of the adv/disadv of each method ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hello Haroon ๐Ÿ™‚
    I am Very Sorry; but I thought you were linkng to a Digital Tips Page; my Mistake :oops:;
    But the Article you Linked to; that I have just read; is Very Interesting as it gives Pros & Cons for Each Category; Personal; Fan; and Group; which is Cool;
    The Disadvantages for Each Choice of the Facebook Pages sound Unfortunately Off-Putting ๐Ÿ™

    The bottom line is that the profile page is best for interacting, the fan page is best for unlimited contacts and targeting updates, and the group is best for getting information to your friendsโ€™ inboxes.

    The Above Information (Quoted from the Article); gives Each Choice an Advantage; but it Depends on
    ‘What You Wish To Achieve’;
    For Me; The Personal Page could be ‘Used’ as a Starting Point for your ‘Fan Page’; by ‘Hoping’ that a Number of Friends on your ‘Personal Page’ would Also be Interested in your ‘Fan Page’; and so; Anybody New to your Fan Page would Feel Much Happier to click ‘Like’ if you already Have a Following (from your Friends);
    The Fan Pages (I have clicked maybe 4 in total I think); are (or at least the ones I have seen) Incredibly Impersonal; and it Feels like my ‘Click’ is just Another ‘Number’; and I could be ‘Anybody’; this Feeling has in fact put me off Clicking Any Other Pages (although I would Support Anybody on this Forum :));
    For the Group Page; I am a Member of almost 200 Groups on SoundCloud; and I use them Exhaustively; checking out at least 2 of the Groups Daily; there is ‘Always’ something to ‘Do’ on a Group Page;
    And for your Followers; whichever Option you Choose; having ‘Something To Do’ on your Page is a Great Thing :);

    I am Very Impressed with the last piece of the Article (which Mimics the DDJT Article to some Extent);

    More tips for promoting and managing your page(s)
    ๏ปฟ
    And so for your Gain; I would Definitely Study the Tips given there ๐Ÿ™‚

    Get a fan page. You don’t have to “accept” friend requests. You can have multiple people manage a page. You can see metrics on your page’s performance. You can send out messages as an “artist” or brand without exposing your personal profile you use with family/friends/etc.

    I’m still working on an article for this site on better using facebook. It’s been an insane two weeks here at the office.

    When I talked about promoting yourself online, I mentioned to use a FACEBOOK PAGE and not a profile. The main reason is you aren’t limited to how many people can be on you. I know it sounds easier to get a profile and friend request the 5000 person limit, but part of pushing a brand is making people WILLINGLY LIKE YOU. Friend Requesting 5000 people IMHO is no better than stealing a mass email list. You might end up able to spam messages and walls, but if no one’s listening…then it’s pointless.

    A group isn’t ideal for promotions. The main reason is that a group is more for those having a similar like/purpose and the means to communicate with one another. So if you’re doing a group of people who love Industrial Music in your neck of the woods…then a group is the idea.

    Stick with a Facebook Page. I’ll finish the article tomorrow and send it to Phil (I’ll finally have a moment to breathe). In the article I’m going to tell in detail how to ENGAGE people and thus keep your fans. I’ll also share any ideas on how to gain fans.
