    In short: No.
The Terminal Mix ist not an analogue mixer. It does all its mixing in the DJ software as it is a full midi controller.
You could use an external soundcard with VDJ control vinyl and try to map them to the decks in VDJ, but this is an extremely complicated task. Rane/Serato control vinyls will definitely not work.
While the jockey 3 ME has an analogue mixer built in and hence can mix phono sources, it will also not work with control vinyls as its internal soundcard is not certified for it. Again you could try (since you have VDJ pro) to use VDJ control vinyls and map them accordingly, but as I said… not easy.
Traktor and Serato control vinyl will not work with the Jockey.

The question would be: Why do you want control vinyls?
You would need to be a REALLY good scratch DJ to actually need the vinyls. The Terminal Mix already has the best jog wheels of any controller and everything but some really nasty and hard scratches can be done on the TM2 without a problem.

    Thanks Terry for the answer.

its confusing me a little to say the least. I was under the impression Serato vinyls would be ok for use as this is made mention to in the VDJ Wiki “VirtualDJ works with a wide range of timecode vinyls, we recommend using Rane-CV02 (2nd gen vinyl
Would switching to Traktor help in this set up I believe you can aggregate the soundcards? Alternatively would a different contoller (S4) help or even an external mixer with modular controllers make this set up easier? (Contours?)

The reason for wanting to do this is purely down to the fact I would like to try mixing via turntables as well as via the midi controller. I always wanted to learn to mix when younger and turntables and vinyl were the norm do the desire to try the old skool way as well is there. I also have a reasonable vinyl collection I would want to tap into, so maybe and external mixer would be a better solution?

HELP its driving me mad >.<

Terry I found a reply from a staffer on the VDJ forum in answer to a similar question relating to the TM4

“If you upgrade to the full VirtualDJ Pro (There is a discount from VirtualDJ LE for Reloop Terminal Mix 4), then you can use your Maya44 instead of the sound card built into Terminal Mix 4. This will allow you to use timecode and you can also still use the Terminal Mix 4 as a MIDI controller at the same time.”

That would seem to indicate its possible

And here the reply I got from Christian at Reloop
When using VDJ Pro it should be possible to use a certain party interface while still have all MIDI commands running. Please contact VDJ in this matter while this setup is experimental. But i’m pretty sure this should work.”

Anyone else care to speculate on my chances of getting this set up working?

Try it out. I found it to be a mapping nightmare…

if you were playing real vinyl, you can use 1 turntable and route the audio through a spare software deck (C or D). That way you can use the channel fader, eq’s + software fx and filters
