    It is personal preference of sound, but I would go with the EVs.
    The other speakers are not bad however, I just like the clarity in the highs that the EV have with still enough punch. However the EVs do not take overdriving lightly so they should be EQed and tuned in better than the Mackie.
    The Mackie is a good overall and can take quite a beating, but sound wise average but decent.
    I never had the QSC tested for long, but they sounded good. No idea if they can take a beating or how they hold up and how they are to tune in.

    I would go EV in terms of sound quality, but (just my 2 cents) i always think bigger = better as well. 8″ seems a TAD small for your 250 person top end…i would think a 10″ minimum..but Terry has had more experience around PA
