Correct me someone if I am wrong. Aren’t demo’s supposed to be shorter? I’ve never done a demo, but if you present to someone, he must not listen to 20 minutes beofre choosing if yes or no.

Concerning the demo, it is good! The transactions are well made, but you mix different style together? Is this what you wnated? Dubstep with electro (Deadmau5) and some pop songs. It all depends where you want to play and what for. And usualy for parties and all that, you juste get named by someone. You know someone who’s organising and want you to be the DJ. This is how it works unless there are many DJ’s at your campus and that it is something official.

Hey! Thanks for the reply. And good to know about demo lengths. I’m not really sure If I should call this a demo then I guess, but I just kinda gave it that label since I might be referring potential party hosts to this mix for now.

There’s a few reasons why I have this kinda weird collection of different genres. I’ve just started learning to DJ this summer (been a musician all my life) and I really don’t have a specific genre that is my favorite yet or one that I really want to get good at mixing. Also I’ve played at a couple of parties so far at my college and they typical just want to hear their favorite music, luckily I go to a college where dubstep and electro is familiar to them, but just top charts so far. So I kinda just play a little of anything. Lastly, I’m broke and can’t buy music at the moment so I just mixed what I had 🙂
Thanks so much for the comments, it gives me great motivation to keep me going!

You don’t have to have an specific genre that is your favorite! You have to have your own unique colelction that you can mix with! Also, if you want new tunes, I’m a member at an music sharing community with some DJ’s too. So if you want any advice. Give it a look. You can even post your mix there and see what people like/dislike. On this forum, I haven’t had so much feedback.

Hope to see you there. Link is /

exactly! I just heard your mix but I guess it will do the trick playing at a college house party.
(ok I’m not totally aware what hot and what’s not in US college but ok)
Keep in mind, as long as YOU enjoy the music you’re playing and you can transfer that energy the crowd will dig it for sure!
