    A bit more background would be useful for help. Do you play out? Stay in bedroom? What music?

    If you want a controller though, check out the controller guide on this site. Pretty complete

    Yeah sure, my bad.
    I am starting to play out more and more with the occasional under 18’s club gig (yes they exist), but more weddings and stuff like that.
    At home I tend to play progressive house and happy hardcore but when I’m playing at someone’s wedding or birthday it tends to generally be Top 40.

    If I were to buy another controller I’d want it to mimic a standard Pioneer club setup, but sadly here in Australia the DDJ T1 or DDJ SX are a bit more than I can easily afford. Which is why I was asking about the Gemini’s as they are an almost bang on copy of a CDJ 900/2000 that I can afford.

    The question you have to ask yourself is:
    Why invest in something CDJ like? What does it offer you more than a good controller would?
    Especially for mobile DJing I would never go back to CDJs.

    Good point Terry, the main thing I was looking for in an upgrade would be redundancy. With a controller if my laptop dies it would basically be the end of the night. But with a more modular setup I can always have something else prepared in case my laptop dies.

    And…….if one of your cdj dies? you will be a jukebox, playing one song after another, lol. You won’t have trouble with a good computer if is use just for DJing. Worst thing to do is use the dj laptop as your personal everyday computer, that’s when thing go wrong.

    Indeed. I have a backup mp3 player that I route through the venues mixer just to be safe, but I have never needed to use it yet in the time since I went fully digital. Of course you need a good laptop and a decent controller.

    I might have to invest in an iPod or something for that very job then…
