Well, a big part of DJing is stage presence and interacting with the crowd, If you have energy and look like your enjoying yourself, and the music the crowd will enjoy themselves more as well and see you as a more exciting DJ, So basically I’m trying to say, enjoy yourself! Dance a round a little bit, look at the crowd and study how the music you are playing is going down with them and decide what should come next in your set and then start mixing in the next track, while bobbing to the beat and dancing at the same time.
Other things you can do: Have a drink, check your phone, do a little bit of live remixing on the current track with FX.

    I hope these suggestions helped!

Don’t get caught in the trap of thinking you constantly have to do something. Not all of us have adhd. If you’re using sync, take the extra time to try to match by ear (you can always use sync after that if you want). It’ll get you practice and fill your time.

If you’ve got the funds, tossing a maschine, f1, or x1 into your set can give your performances an extra kick and I’ve found the crowd loves when you play around with the song and add a live performance aspect. Also, just toying around with fx can be great (assuming you stay on beat). I think I’d fall asleep mixing top40 if it weren’t for traktor and the selection of fx.

If there’s a quieter/lesser energy part of the set, maybe you can try hyping on the mic.

Good idea’s. I like to set as many cue points as possible in a song and juggle the phrasing around sometimes.

Effects can be used to get out of a crappy beatmix http://www.digitaldjtips.com/2012/10/beatmasking-5-ways-to-get-out-of-a-terrible-mix/ (I use this often!)
