http://www.mixcloud.com/x-kisscut-x/jump-up-mix-27th-december-2012/Love the mix. Much more “happy” than the last and a good pick me up for my morning coffee. I can feel you had fun doing this and it made me bounce in my chair. What more can you expect. 😉
I think overall even better than the last one. I think you got a spot on my morning listening playlist now.
Some might call this “Flawless victory”.December 28, 2012 at 9:47 am #34181x-Kisscut-x
MemberWow Terri i feel honoured!! XD I did definately have fun making this one for sure and as you say its much more bouncy but again the transitions weren’t as smooth as i wanted them to be, so i think i really need to work on that! Have you got many tips for ‘defining your own sound’ at all? I’ve been looking through the site but havn’t managed to find any topics about it. 🙁

ParticipantI listened to your mix at work and I really enjoyed it. Of course, I didn’t get to listen to all the little details, but then again most people at a party wouldn’t as well. I think I only caught one minor slip-up somewhere where the beats were a bit off, but other than that solid mixing. Song selection is also pretty nice, I do enjoy the happy DnB tunes and you mixed them nicely with some harder tunes.
Looking forward to a next mix

Hi DJimC, thanks very much for the feedback. There are quite alot of slip ups admittedly but its great to hear such a possitive comment from a listener’s view so thank you very much! 🙂 I have my first gig booked for the 12th Jan, I’m SO scared! But i’m really looking forward to it! Wish me luck! 😉 x

ParticipantNice to hear you’re going to play at a gig, good luck with that and have fun with it. I’m sure the crowd with enjoy your mixes (I suppose they do know you’re going to be playing DnB right? 😉 )

ParticipantNice mix girl! Well chosen tracks and especially the tunes of the second half of the mix really blend into each other nicely.
Thumbs up and success with your first gig this saturday! Based on what i heard I’m sure you will do just fine and I wish you a great time 😉

MemberThanks Flexe thats really nice of you, i thought the second half wasn’t so good tbh! There’s a part where the beats are of MASSIVELY off but hopefully in the club the big sound system will be a bit more forgiving! I will be sure to let you know how it goes!! x

ParticipantI’d say the best thing to do is to just have fun and try getting used to the attention of the crowd as you go along, especially since it’s only your first time. I’ve seen a fair amount DJ’s, and even the biggest ones make mistakes!
Two years ago there was a female DnB DJ playing at the local youth pub. She was the last DJ of the evening and almost every track she put into the mix was off beat… Still the crowd was having a good time if only because she knew which songs to play. That was in 2010… A few weeks ago, I saw her in a DJ competition on the national television and she was still having a hard time beatmatching those same songs. Granted, she’s using vinyl which I am now aware is probably the hardest technique… But I have to say I’ve always admired her because she’s clearly having a great time every time she’s playing.
My point being; people that are having a good time tend to be forgiving in general. Moreover, I have a feeling that you’re putting a lot of effort in your work and in a year’s time I think you’ve accomplished a lot! Most songs in your mix really sound spot on. You’re doing a pretty marvelous job, so don’t worry 😉
(Just the 2 cents of a complete novice for what it’s worth.)

MemberNot at all Flexe, thats really inspiring, i’ve seen alot of female DJs out there who have had the crowd rocking and one day i’d hope to be in the same position as them! I just need to stop doubting myself cause i think if i am gonna do shit then i probably will do haha! It’s confidence that i really lack and just the fear of failure, even though i’ve had really positive feedback from a lot of people i’m still very critical of myself. I just don’t want to go there on saturday and for everyone to have these really high expectations of me if i know i can’t meet them.
I know its my first gig and i’m bound to make a few mistakes but i just hope i can hold it together if i get really stuck lol. I’m just going to go out there and give it all i’ve got and try my best to make sure everyone has a good night. It helps knowing some of my mates will be there so i’m sure they’l be playing thier part at getting people in the groove 😉 Thanks for your support though much appreciated!
