Raves are still around here at least. It’s usually the only place to hear hardstyle, happy hardcore and so on. THey’er just full of 13-19 year old candiravers anyways. Lame crowd.

Yeah, its really hard to find anything thats like an actual rave these days i find…either big stadium shows or night clubs…the underground rave scene is dead where i am from.

KeymasterDigital is all around. Everyone using CDJs is a digital DJ with todays CDJs…
Also lots of famous DJs use controllers now.December 22, 2012 at 11:59 am #33969Ess Jay
MemberUp in the woods near me they have raves set up in old bomb holes from WW2 playing off PA on the back of a truck.
Drove up once to check it out, and it was lots of cider, tracksuits and hostility. Definitely only welcome of you knew people there, but it was just playing jungle and garage really.

ParticipantThey still have raves around here too. Usually, cdjs and turntables as you’ve mentioned. Not to say that no one does digital at them. But the underground is a little more biased against it.

ParticipantMy 2 cents (which I’m sure is worth even less);
1) Controllerism is the underground imo
2) I don’t give a damn what you’re using to mix music with, I only care about the end result.I’m working on booking a Valentine’s Day Rave myself (http://www.digitaldjtips.com/forum/threads/edm-djs-in-dc-looking-for-a-starting-venue.7283/) and I’m encouraging controllerists to come out of the woodworks and show some daisy-chained cue-juggled awesomeness. Classical pianists complained when synths came out, I’m sure drummers are still dying inside seeing maschine guys, and I believe controllerism takes the focus off of the more tedious aspects of djaying (cue dropping and vinyl switching) and allows more focus on effects/live remixing/ableton setups/etc. Also, my back isn’t sore due to lugging around flightcases full of vinyls I may only want to use for a single track.

It’s a shame you’re not in the UK mate cos that would be perfect!

You’re right. I didn’t mean underground musically. I meant underground, as in outside of the mainstream clubs and festivals. And that only applies to my area, and I will say change is coming.:)
