For your first controller I would advise to get the Mixtrack Pro. It is the most “conventional” of those controllers and you can nail the basics easily. When you have that controller mastered the resale value is very good and you will know what to upgrade to.
Many DJs have started out with a Mixtrack Pro and I actually still have one as a backup unit when I do mobile DJing as is delivers anything you need to DJ actually.

I agree with terry-42, go for the mixtrack pro. I’ve got a RMX and it does the same job, it’s very solid but the jogs are tiny 🙁
If you have 300$ don’t go for for the RMX2, you can find better at this price range, it’s my point ;).

If money is tight go with the Mixtrack. I have the Numark N4 (4 deck intermediate level) and although they are made of plastic they are actually pretty durable.

I’m leaning towards a used MC3000 right now. It just seems like a lot better product for not that much more money…

Plus its a lot more respectable. Not that respect is everything nor that gear is anything, but people judge. And if you want gigs, you need to be able to impress people. Its like a DJ wearing a pair of Beats… Nothing really wrong with them, but people will judge you for wearing them.

I’m kinda the same as you, ive messed about with virtual dj for a few months now, but for me I’m heading for the even cheaper option and basic option of the numark DJ2GO, it’s £40 here and I will be getting it after Christmas, along with a splitter cable or sound card, after this, when I have mastered the dj2go, I am moving onto the mix track pro, I have watched a fair few videos and reviews on it, and it seems like a nice controller.

Let us know what ya get and how you feel it went for your first controller.

This is a good point, I moved on from the MTP pertly because it looks toyish. I have now ended up with a kontrol s2, but the MC3000 was definitely on my short list. Chose s2 because of tight Traktor integration, and looks sexy next ti my F1

I Have a Numark Mixtrack Pro for home and my wife and I to practice on;) and for my gigs I have a Denon MC6000 which is good and a Denon HDDN2500 for a back up Midi controller and Flash Drive player. All of them works so well for me and my needs. The Denon equpiment is good quaility stuff, it will last for you even if your gig-ing alot. Denon MC3000 and MC6000 do video to with Virtual DJ 😉 and you have stand alone mixer abilty with MC6000…I love Denon!! :D….I will be getting a Denon MC3000 too for a video mixing set up soon :). Ya’ll keep rockin!!

    All depends on DJ Software:
    VDJ Mixtrack or MC3000
    Traktor – S2
