In personally wouldn’t have Christmas music be more than 30 – 50% of your set, people will get tired of the tunes just like shoppers do in when they’re in stores around the holidays for too long. Definatley interactive song always go well at these type of gigs ie electric sldie, cupid shuffle, possibly “The wobble”

Way to much. 1-2 christmasy songs per hour at most. Or people will lynch you… (at least here in Europe)

    This definitely 🙂

OP, never DJ’d a work’s Xmas bash, but I have been a to fair number over the years… usually its standard top40/pop across the decades which always, and I mean always, includes something by Shania Twain… which is usually time to depart or at least pop outside for some fresh air 😉 As Terry said, just drop the odd Xmas tune, back to back Wizzard, Slade etc etc would not be good IMHO. Enjoy.

I’m no expert, but I would definitely look into only playing the Christmas tunes during the dinner or cocktail hour.

I would indeed like to see the lynch mob after 2+ hours of constant Xmas music. Don’t know your company Xmas parties, but if it gets raunchy, time to play Prince and James Brown later….

I’m doing a Work Christmas gig next saturday (1 year olds, employees kids to 80 year olds, grandparents) and like Coltrane09 said, my plan is Christmas tunes during dinner, none after dinner. My play list is as mentioned above will include Electric Slide, Cupid Shuffle, maybe the wobble 😛 and God forbid “Celebrate” and Gangnam Style (uhgggg!) But ya know if it gets them going then I love all those tracks!! Its not about me its about the music and the crowd! Another tip: I posted a sign up board in my break room at work for people to jot down what they might want to hear (also noted that not all requests will be honored) just to get a feel for what most folks would be interested in… yep…. top 40, line dancing, 80’s, hip hop, reggae, rap… no one mentioned EDM 🙁 . By the way the sign up board was packed…..However, a coworker on Friday came up to me and said: “I just want to dance, so just play some good dance music… and remember I always go to Burning Man! ;-0 Bottom line: Your 18-70 year olds want to dance not listen to Silent Night 🙂

Just drop some Drum n’ Bass and everything will be fine. Merry Christmas!

Haha Jk, but not too many Christmas songs, and the billboard charts from now and the past should be enough. Thats what I always hear at these type of things.
