MemberEnjoyed it, don’t play much techno music myself so as far as criticism goes I don’t really have any. Keep it up.

MemberThx for the feedback buddy!
I listened to your house mix on soundcloud and left some comments with minute markers. I’m only saying that as a listener, not because I think I’m a great dj or anything: I enjoyed it overall, you had quite a few nice transitions in there. Only grief I personally had was your programming, because sometimes I felt that you took out the energy you carefully built with a much too mellow tune (happened 2 or 3 times). But that might just be me! 🙂

MemberThanks very much, genuinely appreciate you taking time out to have a listen.
I agree with your comments to be honest. The programming I know was very poor, but that was due to I didnt really listen properly to the songs before I played them. I downloaded a group of new tunes I had been looking through, and was looking forward to mixing them, so just went straight on mixify and had a live hour of playing through. Needed longer listening to them properly to decide exactly what order for them to go in. Also had 0 listeners near the end, so got chatting to my house mate and did an awful transition (into Thriller I think), just cos I wasn’t fully concentrating.
I never saw this as an issue, until listening to it after reading your comments. I am still fairly new to DJing and none of my friends do it, so I appreciate your feedback massively.

MemberFair enough dude, I’ve been there too: Stoked on a couple of new tracks and just started mixing them without further preparation. Maybe in a sense that’s training too 🙂
I’ll try to listen to your stuff again when you have sth new online 🙂

ParticipantOdd intro I agree. Second track sounds quieter than the first. Third track-like the transition, seems to get a bid loud during the mix. Fourth track-nice transition, can’t go wrong with Spastik. Fifth track-not my favorite transition, would have preferred you built the energy up more coming out of Spastik, not bad though. Sixth track-nice transition, really built back up like I was hoping you would a track earlier. Seventh track-another good transition and it keeps building. Eighth track- great transition. Ninth track-worst transition of the bunch, you took it down one notch though which is great. Tenth track-not a great transition either, I feel like you lot a little of the vibe here. Eleventh track-another sub par transition and I don’t think the track fits too well. Twelfth track-transitions ok, fits the last track well.
Good mix, really good considering how long you’ve been at it. My only issue really was how quickly you burned through tracks, but that’s more of personal preference. Listening to your deep house mix right now. First mix was good, second not so much. Keep doing what you’re doing, I’d gladly dance to you in a dirty warehouse.

MemberHey man,
I really appreciate your thorough feedback – no better way to learn and improve, thanks a bunch! 🙂
I will listen to the mix while going thru your comments later today.I guess you’re spot on for the most part. Actually I’m just learning proper level control as of now, since I used autogain before but now turned it off completely to not sacrifice sound quality. Monitoring was a bit tough because I relied almost exclusively on the VU meters – my headphones broke and I didn’t have them for recording the mix 🙁
But you’re right anyways, I’m still learning proper gain setting, so thanks for the helpful pointers!I’ll try to return the favor when you post a mix of your own 🙂

ParticipantDon’t take any of it personally. I enjoyed the mix and I was genuinely impressed. I recently switched to digital and at first thought that auto gain would be awesome. I’ve now decided it’s a piece of crap and I’m never using it again.
I’ve got a mix up if you want to have a listen. There’s actually 4 on my mixcloud. The Lights Went Out is my newest and I’ve received good feedback from other sites on Faded Memories Parts 1 and 2, particularly 2. All tags are where the mix begins. Anyway, here’s the link to my thread if you’re interested, if not, no hard feelings.

Haha, just how I feel! 😀
No worries, nothing taken personally! Checking your mix out now!

ParticipantCheck out Henry Cullen and DAVE the Drummer (same guy different names). I think you might dig some of his stuff. It’s not big room stuff, more deep tech, some is driving though. Good stuff.

ParticipantHi rfb,
Enjoyed your Mix! It maintains that kind of funky techno throughout the set – I liked it!
What jumped to my ear was the transistion from “Good music” to “Spastick” – the sudden lack of bass was a little bit to heavy (for my ear 😉 ) I would have faded out the lows more gently, maybe using a loop of it. But thats just my opinion 🙂
Overall, its well made. Got to dig some new Techno tunes …. 😉November 28, 2012 at 1:05 pm #32754rfb
Member@ rjwhite41: I did and I gotta thank you for the recommendation, some dark, kind of industrial sounding stuff that is exactly down my alley! Thanks a lot man 🙂
@ clockwise: Thank you dude, appreciate it – also the fair criticism! That’s what I can learn from! 🙂
I listened to the Tech House Mix on your mixcloud and I liked it very much, nice transitions all the way through as far as I could tell. Programming wise I guess you were going for a “Intro – Peak – Outro/After Hours stuff” kind of thing, which I totally get. I like mixes that finish up with a bang, instead of more mellow tunes – but everybody’s different. Good mix and I definitely liked the “darker” tracks in it 🙂

Participant@ rfb Thank you too for listening to an hour-long mix 🙂 Glad you liked it!
Yeah, i find it kinda hard to stay consistent programming-wise. But You got my intention 😉 When will your next mix be ready? 🙂

MemberWhen the music is good, it’s easy to listen – good song choice bro 😉
Thanks for asking, I hope to have sth new before the end of next week. My headphones were broken, now I finally got new ones 🙂
