Reloop Digital Jockey 3 should be a good choice at this price range and for Traktor.

I am slightly worried about the size and weight.

Also, as it is coming up to being 2 years old, will there be something newer coming out at the start of 2013?

    That sounds fair.
Well the Terminal Mix was their latest product, but I do not know what they have in the pipe.
The S2 and S4 are a lot older (not that they are a lot worse…), I do not think that there will be so great revolutionary things in the next year, but maybe a steady evolution… no “must have” things, just more shiny and stuff.

The price seems to be really good.

Is the main difference that the TM4 is for VDJ rather than Traktor? Just checking iv got the right idea

    Serato sorry, not VDJ

Well it is mainly geared towards Serato and the upcomming Serato DJ.
However I have used it with Traktor and the mapping is really good and I like this one. If I would use Traktor I would still have stayed with the Controller.
I currently use it with VDJ Pro, which also works well, but most likely will end up using it with Serato, which I prefer.
So actually the TM4 works with all 3 Softwares really good, just depends what you like most and Traktor does not come with it out of the box.

I already have Traktor Pro so it isnt an issue, but if it was you, would you go for the DJ3 or the TM4? Imagining you were a Traktor only DJ.

    Both are around £400

If you prefer tightest effect integration and button per button mapping in Traktor and standalone mixer functionality, I would go with the DJ3.
If you prefer larger jogwheels, custom mapping, real 4 channels and more buttons combined with a better pitch fader, then go for the TM4.
Both get the job done, but those are the main selling features for either unit. (ok plus the DJ3 has more shiny lights…)

Im swaying towards the DJ3, but its older, so will keep its value less than the TM4 I imagine.

But I hate the Serato branding all over the TM4

If you tend towards the DJ3 go for it, it is not that much older and resale values for both are quite good atm.
Be sure that it has the latest firmware installed, as this fixes all joghweel issues the DJ3 had before…

Just bought a 2nd handed reloop DJ3 ME and an official reloop bag for £270.
Really excited for it to arrive, but also nervous about buying 2nd hand.

Well 2nd hand you can get scammed of course, but on the other hand I only had good experience form 2nd hand buying.

I have had a bad experience buying second hand in the past so i tend to stay away from it now. (not trying to worry you more here) but i quite like to buy from thomann.de or musicstore.com technically there the same but some have better offers than the other. they both offer B stock items for around 5 – 10% of the original price and they still come with the 3 year warranty. Also if your not happy with the item you can send it back within 30 days for a full refund or exchange.
