Im the only DJ and there the whole time so I dont worry about exposure time but I DJ from 10 till 4am and with the time change, thats a 7hr set! I have another close friend that that DJs not to far from me for a club and he is wondering the same thing as far as what others do and what has been done in the past about it

Well if the club is paying you for a set, then play including the extra hour.
If youre getting paid for a 6-hour time slot, then play until 3am

Mostly what I would to is talk to the club owner. I don’t see why he wouldn’t see where you’re coming from for having such a long set, and would either say play till 3, or pay you a bit more.

The best thing to do is talk to the club owner/whoever hired you. If there are other DJs playing with you, just talk to them and make something up if the club owner doesnt have a clear choise. If you are the only DJ, play for the extra hour even if you are hired for a set number of hours (except if the owner clearly stated to stop after X hours), Stopping to play when your time slot ends just because they hired you for that amount of time seems in my opinion unprofessional and may put the club owner under pressure (having a club full of people at 4 am still expecting to dance hard with the DJ leaving the booth just because his ‘time slot’ ended)

Does the club respond to Daylight Savings Time immediately, or do they close shop as if DST is not a factor?

^ Thats what im wondering and what other businesses have done in the past. Im pretty sure my owners dont even know what theyre are going to do yet.
I dont get paid per set or hr, its just based off the amount of people I bring in so if people keep rolling in till we close, I bank off them

In Australia it varies, last time it swapped I had to play an extra hour, the time before when it moved the other way I had to play an extra hour.

I was told it would balance out when daylight savings moved again later in the year. It didn’t. Oh well.
