Been there as well. Doing a birthday party, literally same thing, 128bpm house music, guy comes up and starts talking about the setup, get immersed in the conversation, forget I am a DJ for a second, song ends. Luckily I had this on a sample key.

“Ball so hard mother-fu*kers wanna fine me”

Gave me just enough time to cue Paris by Jay-Z up, and drop in the backing beat. Crowd went ballistic!

Hell yeah. I make mistakes, everybody does. Just do not panic and make something of it. You did exactly the right thing and the crowd prolly loved you for it 😉

My biggest mistake so far has been touching the jog wheel of a track that is playing. They can be pretty sensitive when it is set to SCRATCH. I played that one off pretty well. It wasn’t that noticeable.

I’m thankful for the setting in my software that prevents me from loading a track to deck that is already playing a tune. I also like the option that will only load a track to a deck not playing.
