As the M2 isnt a usb soundcard, im guessing your running traktor in external mixing mode? That’s why when you record in traktor, it doesn’t pick up any fader movements etc.

I don’t know if the iPad’s headphone jack doubles as a mic, but if it does you should just be able to run a cable from the record out of your mixer into the headphone jack.

Hey thanks for the quick feedback, much appreciated!
Yea I heard about this kind of rig
only thing is, it’ll record mono… but you know what, you’ve convinced me.. gonna try it…
yea, doing it without an external mixer just ain’t the same thing… as much as Traktor is well equipped for it, and you can program all the keyboard shortcuts in the world, just aint the same thing
    thanks Quick

If you’re going to use the Ipad you’ll need either the camera connection kit and a usb audio device or you can you use the in built mic but I’d doubt the quality would be there. Like Robert said switching Traktor to internal mode will help with the cross fade but you’ll be hard pressed to crossfader and EQ without a controller. So seeing as you have an Ipad, if you can’t afford a controller and your laptop is WiFi have a look at TouchOCS for the Ipad to controll Traktor remotely

There are plenty of different mappings available online

Can you explain how you’ve got you mixer hooked up seeing as it’s a standard analogue

well, it didn’t work. used an ipad app called pocket wavepad, it keeps crashing and when it does record, the sound is muffled (and the levels are through the roof, couldn’t figure out how to lower them). disappointed, again.
