Clearing out your collection

I usually do this once a month – completely wipe it out in my dj software and build it back up again. I am a heavy minimalist and this helps me maintain quality tunes that I love and that are crowd favorites. for people that love their enormous track collections my question is this, how often does it help you to have a huge selection at your disposal?

Do any other forum readers like stripping away and rebuilding their collections?

When I was a Writer I used to Adore File Management; and I could spend Days just on File Management;
But with my Music I am a Constant Worrier; that I may be Deleting a Track that could be ‘Perfect for an Occasion’;
However; when Beginning to Prepare a Set; as I Flip through my Browser I Often come across Tracks and think to myself ‘Why am I Keeping that Rubbish?’; because if I ‘Hate’ it; and will ‘Never’ Play it; there is No Point having it there; but then I think of ‘Samples’; and think ‘Well; it is Rubbish; but could I Possibly ‘Use’ that Breakdown in something else?’; and then the Track ends up staying there; but ‘Every Time’ I begin to Prepare another Set; up the Track comes again and I think the Same Thing; ‘This Is Rubbish – and I Will Never Use It’;
So; lately I have begun Deleting; and Not Felt the ‘Guilt’ or ‘Loss’ that I thought I May Feel;
My Priority with my Collection is ‘My Audience’; and this is where the ‘Dithering’ comes from;
However; lately; when I Download a Track from Soundcloud; and like you; listen to it the next day; if I don’t like it; I just Boot It; although there was ‘Something About It’ that made me Download it in the first place;
I would Love to Strip Away Everything that Doesn’t Make Me Want To Dance; but my Funds are Limited 🙁
