    Clearly this depends on location and your reputation. You will have to do the research in your area, get acquainted with an agency and then it’s still a question if they will get you gigs. Most likely not right in the beginning and you might have some sort of apprenticeship first.

    On the whole I’d say doing your own scouting gives you better control over what is and isn’t done to land YOU some more gigs.

    And if you have read all that is being said about that here, I’d say get out there and start hustling!

    Also DJ agencies depending on their reputation can be a plus or a minus. You get less personal freedom (aka what gigs you take and what music you play) in most cases.
    But also the ammount of money the agency charges should always be transparent for you and make sure that their contract does not bind you to them exclusively for any period of time.
