Any chance you can throw Win7 on it for this one gig? So you have time to sort it out later? You could even do that by making your laptop dual-boot so you don’t have to undo your current setup.

And what does Behringer say about this?

    I’d ditch the BCD 3000

Based on my experience of one back before I invested in my Allen&Heath 4D back in 2008, the build quality is rubbish. One of the jogs (left I think it was) was grinding upon usage.

plus the fact it isnt a proper full soundcard in it… all it does is use the internal mixer of the sofatware you use on the computer.

It consumes more computer CPU than an external mixer based controller.

Have you got a tablet that you can use as a controller using TouchOSC?
although that would need an external soundcard.

might be better if you can to look at hiring or borrowing some hardware from someone / somewhere?

till you can make an investment in something that is better.
unless you make a quick purchase, but taking the time to consider the options is best.

Rental is certainly an option. In my neck of the woods I have seen some controllers around. Maybe one of your friends has a controller you can borrow/lease/rent for the night?

+1 for taking the time to make a final decision on new gear. If you look for posts on picking the right controller, you will find many on the subject of starting with your workflow and then working your way towards a shortlist of most suitable controllers for YOU that fit within your budget.

The BCD3000 certainly isn’t top of the line, but it does the job. I’ve used mine several times for parties and it worked well, but I always fed it’s output into my Numark 1175 so I have room to move volume wise if I have to.

For the Windows 8 issue try setting the the driver installer to “run as administrator” and see if that helps.

Honestly I would also get rid of it. I you have to happen a BCD that works, glad for you, but most units I have seen are very very poor in build quality and they do not hold up past the warranty.
