First you’d have to check that the sound card Serato uses is set correctly and secondly that it is outputting the sound to the right channels. As I don’t have a controller hooked up to this computer I can’t check the exact settings now. However there should be plenty of information in the help section there.

Also with the VCI-300 do you have the last firmware installed?
Sadly since Vestax is dead I have no clue where to get it from…

I tried to reinstall the last firmware update, however I got an error saying something like “ECK not found”.

I looked at my Mixer setup in Serato. The ‘Master’ side has no volume and I can’t turn it up. The

I found a video on YouTube about this that said to try turning off the “Let this device take exclusive control’ options. I did that and then the VCI-300 stopped working.

I’ve installed ASIO but unable to figure out how to map it to the VCI-300.

I’m getting concerned that since Vestax went belly-up, I need to look into a Numark/Virtual DJ setup.

    Thoughts?

    Well first thought:
If you get an error during firmware update, most of the time that is really really bad… and things stop working. So you might be in a bad situation here, since you cannot get any support to have this issue resolved.

    Second thought:
Why VDJ? There are tons of Serato controllers out there that are extremely nice from Numark, reloop, Denon, Pioneer,… and all are better than the aged 300.

Terry…sounds like the DJ version of the Windows “Blue Screen of Death”.

I did send an email to Serato Tech support but hasn’t helped much. I think they thought I was having trouble setting cue points; his solution was to load the track using the PFL-A and FL-B buttons? I told him I’d never had to do that before to mix in the headphones. I always use the mouse to drag and drop. …Ugh.

I think I mentioned VDJ out of frustration….I think the idea is to get a controller from a stable company.
I’m looking at Numark or Pioneer on eBay now. I’m pretty familiar with Numark, but if you were on a budget, what Pioneer would you recommend? Thanks for your help!

Well from a simple Mixtrack Pro (or now Platinum) up all Numarks do a good job with Serato.

Also do not underestimate the reloop Serato controllers.

As for Pioneer I would go for the more standard controllers like DDJ-SR or SX (you can get bargain prices on the first SX as the SX2 is out and IMHO not much better). Those work nicely with Serato too.
I would not yet go for a Rekordbox DJ only Pioneer, as Rekordbox is OK but not as stable as the late Serato. I am sure it will get there soon, but it just aint the time yet.
