    Howdy, 3l, welcome! There’s a post in the first category that talks about how to get an avatar, they use Gravatar here. The website’s speed seems to come and go for me, it was better when I was closer to the server while living in Europe, but now that I’m in the US, it is less responsive.

    Hey and welcome!
    Yes you need to use the Gravatar system.
    Our servers are hosted in Europe for the most part, but we do have good connections. Some server lag might most of the time rather be on the receivers end. Nevertheless our site does use a lot of picture content etc. and while they are optimized for web view it is slower than a no pictures text sites or sites where you have everything in your cache because the pictures never change…
