While I won’t go into the discussion if buying 2x RMP4 and an analogue (or even digital) mixer makes more sense than just going and buying a Terminal Mix 8 or any other all-in-one controller, there are a few points I’d like to mention.
1) I searched the Reloop website and did not find a TSI mapping for the RMP4. It’s either tucked away in a dark corner or I failed to search in the right place.
2) If it’s not their mapping, it doesn’t make sense to expect them to support it.
3) They might want to support it, but – in their current state – Native Instruments themselves are not very much into supporting 3rd party hardware anymore. What I pick up here and there is that developers of other DJ software get precious little info they would need to make proper mappings. It’s why most mappings now come from the NI forums and the Traktor Bible site. Clearly support for those lies with the makers of the mappings.
4) I’ve had some dealings with product support for Traktor when I was switching software. I wanted to also keep Traktor for various reasons (if only to answer questions on the forums and stay up to date with new features), but the total lack of customer service led me to say goodbye to Traktor altogether. So, poor customer service can happen anywhere.
I would not blame Reloop for not even offering to look into supporting a DJ software that really doesn’t want to be supported by anything other than their own gear in the first place.
Clearly if you did find the mapping from Reloop itself, it’s a different story. That would make it their product and you are correct to expect proper support for something they “sell”.
