Personally I would never give myself the headache of hooking up a single (mono) speaker to stereo devices. If it’s a budget thing I’d say save up a little longer and get two.

If it’s really casual, I’d connect my phone through Bluetooth frankly. There will be some latency but it’s not like you are going to manual beat match with that phone.

Both for your phone and the Numark, your best bet would be for something that can achieve two things, a) go from stereo to mono and b) go from 1/8″ or RCA to balanced Jack/XLR. A small PA mixer comes to mind, but they don’t usually have an option for mono.

Frankly, for a little extra money (lot less than a second EON615) you could have had something like LD Systems Dave 12 setup. Two high end speakers, one sub, stands and it all packs into a small footprint for easy transport in the back of a regular car. Sounds a lot bigger than you would think based on it’s size. You’d have stereo and it has RCA inputs that you can use for either your phone or your controller.

    Thank you for the reply.

My initial thinking is that the room is fairly small (just a normal condo), and I have heard good sound from a DJ with a single speaker. I hope I am not wrong!

Any recommendations on the Bluetooth adapter?

I checked on the LD system, and it looks like it is about $1000 in the US. My EON615 was only $390.

Does it make sense to plug the Left into Line 1 and the Right into Line 2?

No sense whatsoever. At the end they come together in one signal where they cause the same problems.

You can NOT get a single speaker to play mono, and mono is more complex than just tying (via adapter or cables) together two sides of a stereo signal.

You can get smaller LDs (8″ and 10″) which of course are a lot lower in price than the 12″. And they still sound good. Again, small footprint, especially handy in a small condo, but a full system nonetheless.

There are more brands that sell those units. Some have been featured in reviews over on the blog/website. It’s quickly becoming THE way to solve small space sound requirements while still providing gear with plenty of power and sound quality for those smaller spaces like condos and living rooms.

As for bluetooth, I thought that was standard in the 615, so not sure what adapter you are referring too. Assuming your phone like any other has BT, you should be able to just stream your playlist to the speaker?

Ok, thank you. (I believe Bluetooth is just for managing EQ and some other settings.)

Ah, ok … didn’t catch that.
