Be sure to check out the many (recent) posts on upgrading controllers. Use the search function.

At the end of the day, the procedure for picking a new controller is the same as for your first controller, with the following amendments:
    1) Determine your (desired) workflow. You are no longer starting so you should be able to be much more clear on your desired workflow.
    2) Pick your software. Of course you have been using software for a while. Yet this is a great moment to confirm the software you are using still matches your (desired) workflow MOST CLOSELY (nothing is a 100% fit after all). Software changes, features come and go, new software shows up, etx. You might just find you need to switch, this would be the right time to do it.
    3) Set a budget. As always set a budget before you start shopping. Save yourself from overspending by going out and just looking at all the beautiful lights and knobs and not the price tags.
    4) Now you can pick the controller that works with your chosen software, closely matches your workflow and fits your budget.
    5) Get some hands on time if possible with the top 2 of your list and make your choice.

    Hope that helps.
