ParticipantOr tried an SSD for the music? Might be the HDD being affected..

ParticipantBob…. the sound is coming from all outputs including headphones. It is not the speakers or amps. The issue is my PC & Numark NS7 are not playing nicely together. There is not a huge amount of people having this issue, so I am hoping to hear from anyone one with no NS7 sound issues and what they are using.
Thanks!

ModeratorI think what Bob was trying to say is that you might want to try eliminating the effects of heavy bass on your gear (both controller and laptop and in your case external HDD too). Hence the suggestion to put some kind of damping pads underneath your gear, to avoid acoustic coupling.
Having said that, I haven’t heard that kind of problem with heavy bass before and many of our users play in such loud environments.
If there really is a strong correlation between the level (and frequency, most club systems easily run 10-20Hz lower than home setups, even with a home subwoofer) of bass and the amount of trouble you are experiencing than it does make sense to look at the acoustic feedback issue. Somewhat like old TTs that would pick up the bass vibration of the booth, send it back to the needle and have it amplified again, nasty sound.

ParticipantIt could also be the OS. 7 Pro is getting a bit on now in terms of Operating System age. They don’t issue security and service updates anymore for 7, which should give you some indication as to how old it’s become. So it could be the drivers not playing nice with 7 since most companies have updated their drivers for 10 or the very least 8.1. Maybe try upping to 8.1 or 10 and see if that works?

ModeratorWhile feature updates have been stopped, mainstream support lasts until january 14th, 2020. This means security updates. So don’t write off 7 yet. I’d skip 8.1, it’s one of those interim versions that seems to confirm the old Microsoft rhythm of good version – bad version – good version – bad version.
If you move up, go to 10 directly. Clean install.

ParticipantThank you all for the replies! I agree with DJ Vintage, my next step should be a fresh install of windows 10. I went 2 year no issues with the NS7FX & 6 Months without issues on the NS7II.
Out of nowhere this issue just showed up during a gig. At that time I had made no pc changes at all. It could be a particular windows update and the NS7 do not get along? It is discouraging because not too many DJ’s are having this issue, but the ones who do, range from PC to Mac, Virtual DJ to Serato. I have not found one fix for this yet!April 18, 2017 at 12:11 am #2549671Jesse Lynn
ParticipantWas there ever a solution for this?
I’ve been having the same issue with my NS6 and VDJ 7. I stopped using my NS6 for a while, and the issue doesn’t happen with any of my other controllers, but I sold my SB2 and would like to start using my NS6 again if I can get the issue resolved.I did run it for three events on Saturday by using a separate sound card, the Traktor DJ Audio 2, and that worked fine, but obviously, I would prefer to not have to hook up an additional sound card in addition to the NS6.
What I found was most interesting was that if I rant the main output out of the Traktor card, and used the NS6 for my headphone output, I still had distorted crap sound in the Mains, even though the shouldn’t have been coming through the NS6 at all.
Also, I can confirm that the issue happens even at lower volumes, so it should not be a bass vibration related issue.

ParticipantMy Issue is solved, the issue was my laptop did not have enough virtual memory / video dump room on it.
So once the cashe was full, I would get the crackling popping issue.Got an Asus Rouge 1TB Core i7…… not one hiccup or issue!
